Johnson Service Group has an immediate Journeyman Plumber position, to support our public works customer.
Required Experience and Responsibilities:

Minimum of 6+ years of hands-on experience, installing, maintaining and/or repairing plumbing systems.

Will also consider journey level skills through a recognized plumber trade training program and/or applicable related experience within an industrial environment.

Heavy Equipment experience is a plus.

High school diploma or GED is required.

Forklift training and certification.

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on domestic and commercial plumbing systems serving public works facilities, such as offices, shops, dormitories, housing, and other supporting structures.

Troubleshoot plumbing and related problems, and determine appropriate corrective action to eliminate equipment malfunctions and defects to ensure equipment life and minimize down time.
- Design, fabricate and lay out parts and equipment from blueprints, sketches and/or instructions to perform new installations of plumbing or other domestic water system improvements, including fire protection (hydrants) and wastewater systems (leach and septic systems).
- Must have excellent plumbing soldering skills.
- Operate equipment and minor construction such as carpentry, masonry, and concrete (as needed) to complete maintenance associated with equipment or facility repairs.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of related shop equipment.
- Must have own transportation and be highly reliable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Required Knowledge:
- Code, theories, practices, tools and materials for plumbing maintenance and repair operations.
- Safe operating techniques and the occupational hazards of motorized equipment operation, Federal, State, and local codes associated with plumbing (Uniform Plumbing Code-UPC) and fire protection systems (National Fire Protection Association NFPA Codes, and California State Codes) to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Ability to work within wildlife and biological environments, associated with installation and replacement of plumbing systems under structures within a desert environment.
- Understanding of pipefitting techniques as they apply to plumbing and facilities maintenance efforts, and safety practices and regulations for operating maintaining and repairing shop machines/equipment or plumbing systems.
Required Skills:
- Work from graphic instructions such as blueprints, sketches, models, or other visual aids, to determine the parts or equipment that are needed to be fabricated for repairs.
- Ability to work from rough sketches and/or oral instructions, diagnose equipment/tool malfunctions (visually and/or orally).
- Use and maintain mechanical and pneumatic tools and equipment, normally used in a plumbing environment.
- Must be able to adhere to safety practices and regulations for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing shop machines/equipment or plumbing systems.

Education: Must have a High School diploma or equivalent GED
