The role
As a Engineering Apprentice Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. To take leadership and executive management oversight across the Group of the development and sustainment of entry pathways for engineering and will work very closely with the Engineering Early Careers Lead.
Day-to-day, reporting to the Global Engineering Capability Lead (People) you will be required to deliver and support activity through applicable working groups which have been established to enable Babcock to optimise group wide Engineering capability across the pillars of people, processes and tools
- Delivery of an engineering apprenticeship scheme that opens entry pathways for training and development of engineers within Babcock.
- Development of a training schema for development of engineers and technicians to allow them to develop through the business.
- Build relationships with colleges and/or training organisations to deliver training.
- Work closely with our talent acquisition colleagues on attracting the best talent to Babcock, by making the schemes attractive to candidates as well as looking at our D&I metrics.
- Champion of engineering excellence both within Babcock and with our client and stakeholder communities
- Active participation in promoting STEM in the areas we operate and work with regional STEM groups, such as Engineering UK.
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with travel being required.
Essential experience of the Engineering Apprentice Lead:
- An experienced HR person who understands engineering or an engineer who understands training environment
- Great organisational and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with Further Educational Colleges to support the training
- Understanding of training and development at an early careers phase.
Qualifications for the Engineering Apprentice Lead:
- Bachelor of Engineering of appropriate Professional Institute or suitable qualification in HR/Training
