The role:
Responsible for the objectives of the Engineering Quality team by leading Quality Approval and authorisation activities, audit, safety data analysis and reporting.
What you’ll do:
- Leads a small team in achieving the required standards and continuous improvement within the Quality Department reporting to the Quality Manager/Safety Manager
- Able to deliver a wide range of Quality activities and ensure load and capacity are balanced to meet the objectives for the team
- Ensures competence of Quality Engineers, Quality Support Leads and Administrators, mentors and develops capability of each to ensure required standards are met consistently
- Responsible for conducting the teams’ performance reviews
- Monitors all aspects of the teams’ job specific tasks to ensure set targets are achieved. Able to delegate and manage internal and external stakeholders
- Defines and approves company policies and procedures to ensure compliance is maintained and processes are continuously improved
- Reviews new and proposed regulation and takes appropriate action to provide specialist regulatory advice and ensure the business remains compliant
- Maintains primary working relationship with the CAA on behalf of BA Engineering
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- First-rate people leadership skills and a team player
- Excellent understanding of aviation regulations including engineering authorisations, approvals processes and safety management systems.
- Experience in leading projects and influencing process improvement initiatives!
- Excellent written, oral, IT and presentation skills, including the ability to tailor communications effectively to suit a wide range of audiences.
- Accomplished in technical problem analysis and decision making.
- Ability to travel within the UK and to line stations across our network, work ad-hoc shifts and provide out-of-hours support.
Your experience:
- HNC / HND / Degree level or equivalent in an engineering subject or held and used AMEL CAT B within a supervisory role. (essential)
- Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience (essential)
- Lead Auditor (desirable)
- UK CAA/regulation Parts 145, M/CAMO, 21, and 66/147 trained (desirable)
- Holds/held UK CAA or BA Quality authorisations (desirable)
- Holds a full manual driving licence (essential)
