Job Description:
Manages experienced professionals in Propellant Processing teams, lower level supervisors, or managers. Often leads one or more teams or a department. Communicates within and outside of the organization to influence leadership to accept new practices, approaches, and concepts. Develops or champions new concepts or technologies. Manages the implementation of functional strategies and recommends operational plans that directly impact the short- to mid-term function or business area results. Requires broad management and cross-functional leadership knowledge and mastery level knowledge within a specific technical area or broad expertise across multiple related job areas.
Essential Functions:
- 50% - Manage Engineering Documentation activities for the Camden site, which includes: Implementation or improvement of Manufacturing Procedures, related to chemical processing and leading change with agility and drive for world class continuous improvement projects.
- 50% - Define and lead organizational strategy – Must be able to lead with integrity, proactiveness and collaboration with customer and peers. Leader should be comfortable presenting organizational goals, strategies and driving change.
Communicates with parties within and outside of the organization, which includes larger customers or vendors. Works to influence others to accept team's views or practices and agree/accept new concepts, practices, and approaches. Requires ability to communicate and influence leadership regarding matters of substantial importance to the function or business area. Frequently conducts briefings to senior leaders - Responsible for improving upon existing or establishing new processes and systems using significant conceptualization, reasoning and interpretation. Solutions are innovative and unique and draw upon best practices based on expertise. Develops or champions new concepts or technologies. Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are often complex, requiring broad-based consideration of variables that impact multiple functions and/or businesses. Extensively analyzes problems to seek understanding of the root cause of the problem.
- Recommends operational plans and tactics that will directly impact the achievement of overall functional results. Directs the execution of tactics established by functional leadership. Establishes operational plans for job area with short- to mid-term impact on results (e.g., 1-2 years). Work requires a high degree of responsibility for resources, and occasionally influences business decisions made by functional leadership. May recommend and implement new products, processes, policies, standards or operating plans in support of job function strategy. May have budget or Profit & Loss (P&L) accountability for the department.
- Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior management experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior management experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior management experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Broad management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams or manage across the function.
- Typically has mastery within a specific technical area or broad expertise across multiple related job areas.
- Familiarity with budgeting, scheduling and overhead cost management.
- Experience leading a team of Propellant Engineers or Chemical Engineers is a plus.
- Ability to manage change and think outside of the box for innovative solutions.
- Earned Value Management experience a plus.
