About the job:
As an Engineering Delivery Manager (EDM) for Above Water Systems UK (AWS-UK) bids and programmes, you will be key to a range of activities leading an Engineering team to deliver the Integrated Combat System delivery for domestic and export customers through the entire engineering lifecycle. This role will be responsible for the delivery of all engineering related milestones through the complete Design, Build and Integration programme for a major programme of work, supporting a new ship build. Based in the UK, but working closely with our Thales Netherlands colleagues in Hengelo, this role will coordinate all engineering activities, be responsible for the delivery of the engineering governance reviews and work with the IVVQ team to deliver an operational system to the Customer.

This role requires up to 50% international travel and, when working from within the UK, may require travel to Thales sites including Crawley, Reading and Bristol in order to collocate with the wider project team.
About you:
You will have experience in collaborative multi-entity international teams and leading complex system solution design activities against UK MOD and export customer requirements, standards and processes. You will have significant experience of solution architectures with a strong underpinning of a product-based approach to solution configuration.
You will have multi-disciplinary engineering leadership skills and demonstrated ability to balance functional, performance, non-functional and architectural aspects of a complex system designs and have a demonstrated track record of successfully presenting complex ideas to customers, partners and colleagues in an international context.
You will have a strong grasp of technical risk and strategies to minimise and mitigate them in a timely yet robust manner. You will have a deep grounding in the management of safety and security risks and have demonstrated ability in working with specialists to reach successful certification outcomes.
Desirable experience:
Full Lifecycle experience in 100M£+ programmes
Bid experience
Understanding of the regulatory requirements of maritime systems internationally and in the UK specifically
Practical knowledge of uncrewed systems, their management, use and integration into capability
Practical Systems Engineering modelling experience
Ability to travel in Europe and beyond
