Job Description:
The Principal, Logistics will be responsible for establishing overall direction for new processes, systems, and solutions. Recognized as an external and internal expert and thought leader with deep and substantive technical expertise as well as advanced business knowledge and leadership capabilities. The Prinicpal, Logistic communicates with contacts inside and outside of the organization on matters of strategic importance to influence executive leadership on new concepts, practices, and approaches. They will recommend and implement strategies and develop operational plans/goals with direct impact to the achievement against functional strategies.
Essential Duties:
- Managing the development and maintenance of program schedules.
- Develop the format, tools, and tracking/reporting methods to be used to manage the contract and budget.
- Supports programs in developing plans and integrating inputs from all programs and government.
- Interface with all elements of the program team to develop and support regular maintenance of the program.
- Manage monthly meetings with the Integrated Logistics Support Management Team in support of assigned programs and projects.
- Ensure major projects and program schedules and plans are integrated across company functional groups including finance, engineering, material, manufacturing, and quality.
- Manage and track plans and schedules, perform risk analysis and manage variance metrics, milestone charts, and other project management techniques to gauge progress and identify performance variances to facilitate focus and intervention on critical areas.
- Ensure compliance with internal program procedures and project control system guidelines IAW with FAR/DFAR and company MMAS procedures.
- Lead in scheduling status reviews.
- Develop product support analysis data.
- Manage and recommend repairable and consumable spare parts, tools, test equipment, and support equipment for system maintenance.
- Develop, create and manage provision Data Requirements for all new systems/components or modifications to existing systems/components.
- Develop integrated master schedules using SAP, SOW, and WBS structures.
- Create and track plans and schedules, perform risk analysis, and identify and resolve critical path and network logic conflicts.
- Develop integrated master schedules in an agile environment.
- Drive IMS and team engagement during customer ILSMT, PSM reviews.
- Manage complex projects or processes with general oversight.
- Provide support for guidance, coaching, and training to other employees.
- Communicate within and outside of own function to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures.
- Make/recommend substantial improvements to systems and processes.
- Contribute to achievement of departmental goals and operating plans with direct impact on the departmental results.
- Perform regular analysis of program schedules to evaluate program and enterprise-wide resource needs through the integration of all program schedules including metrics on schedule status, critical path analysis, schedule variance analysis, and program baseline maintenance including support of Management performance metrics.
- Utilize milestone charts, and other project management techniques to gauge progress and identify performance variances to facilitate focus and intervention on critical areas.
- Prepare, develop, and coordinate integrated master plan and integrated master schedule.
- Ensure projects and program schedules and plans are integrated across company functional groups including finance, engineering, material, manufacturing, and quality.
- Ensure compliance with internal program procedures and project control system guidelines.
- Work consists of making significant improvements of processes, systems, solutions, or products to enhance performance of job area.
- Provide measurable input of new products, processes or standards in operational plans that will have some impact on the achievement of overall functional results.
- Communicate within and outside of own function or business area and has responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization (e.g., customers, vendors, etc.) when necessary.
- Explain, interpret, and gain cooperation on policies, procedures, and practices.
- Conduct extensive investigation to understand root cause of problems; Problems span a wide range of difficult and unique issues across the function and/or business area.
- Attend and lead scheduling status reviews and conduct briefings with senior leaders which requires ability to communicate matters of importance to the function or business area.
- Work to influence others to accept individual or team’s views or practices and changes to concepts, practices, and approaches.
- Participate in schedule training, engineering, and program excellence organization.
- Work to achieve operational targets within job area with some impact on department results.
- Creating and/or maintaining an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and any Supporting Schedules on assigned projects/programs.
- Creating and presenting project-level reports, presentations, and deliverables that reflect risk and status to program management and senior management relating to the IMS is required.
- Senior professional with strong knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 12 years of prior Logistics and Project Management experience.
- Must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
- Graduate Degree with 11 years of prior Logistics and Project Management experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 17 years of prior Logistics and Project Management experience.
- Minimum of six (6) years of MS Project experience.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge with AFI 63-101/63-131/20-101, AFPAM 63-128 and the DoD Product Support Management Guidebook, MIL-HDBK-502A.
