Breeze Airways is seeking a qualified Communications Intern to work closely with the Corporate Communications team to build awareness of Breeze in local and national media and support internal communications efforts to its nationwide Team Members. The successful individual will manage day-to-day tasks and support ongoing projects for the Corporate Communications team, including internal communications, media list building and management, media relations, coverage monitoring and reporting, news and trend monitoring, media research, interview prep documents, and award and speaking opportunities. The Communications Intern must be a self-starter and organized multitasker able to handle many diverse projects at once and meet tight deadlines.
Here's what you'll do
- Assist in the implementation and reporting of Breeze’s corporate communications strategies
- Write, edit and proof copy for internal and external audiences
- Coordinate communication with Breeze departments and airport partners
- Monitor industry news and media coverage for issues and opportunities
- Organize, schedule and send internal communications on behalf of Breeze and its leaders
- Develop and manage media lists, including monitoring for media moves
- Coordinate with broader corp comm team to respond to inbound media inquiries
- Conduct market-specific media research to inform marketing and communications strategy
- Develop prep materials for Breeze leaders ahead of interviews and speaking engagements
- Develop, draft and submit for ongoing speaking and award opportunities

Here's what you'll need to be successful
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field, and/or possessing a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in public or media relations
- Strategic and creative mindset
- Highly computer-literate with capability in email, MS Office, and related communications tools
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
- Self-starter must have a positive attitude and strong desire for success
- Solid understanding of project management principles
- Prioritize, organize and complete work assignments with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience building media lists and/or pitching media
- Prior experience working in public or media relations
