Job Purpose
Analyse, update and control the weight and balance configurations and modifications of Vueling's entire fleet, according to operational safety guidelines and regulatory requirements, to ensure optimal aircraft performance, safety, and compliance.
Main Accountabilities
- Ensure accurate tracking and integration of changes such as new equipment
installations, paint jobs, or internal modifications, maintaining the aircraft's
optimal performance and safety. - Maintain the correct weight and balance of the aircraft by accurately recording
the weight of catering supplies and magazines, preventing potential safety
issues related to incorrect weight distribution. - Ensure all new operational destinations are accurately represented in the
system, enabling precise weight and balance calculations and facilitating
smooth and safe operations. - Ensure all loading data, including passenger counts and luggage weights, is
correct, preventing errors that could negatively affect the flight's weight and
balance and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. - Ensure any deviations from standard passenger weights, such as sports teams
or groups with heavy equipment, are accounted for, maintaining flight safety
and balance through accurate weight calculations. - Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory standards by analysing real load
sheets from various stations, maintaining operational safety, and identifying any
discrepancies that need correction. - Ensure all weight and balance data is current by updating the manual with new
weights, configurations, and other relevant data, aiding ground handling agents
in maintaining accurate load sheets and ensuring safety - Identify bugs and ensure the software functions correctly, improving efficiency
and accuracy in load management by simulating real-world scenarios and
validating application performance. - Adjust weight calculations by accounting for non-standard passenger weights
and communicate necessary information to the crew, ensuring accurate and
safe operations during flights with special passenger groups. - Ensure all modifications, such as new installations or equipment changes, are
accurately accounted for in the aircraft's weight and balance records,
maintaining safety and compliance by integrating detailed reports into the
system. - Provide detailed information and assist in resolving issues related to load sheet
discrepancies, ensuring accurate and reliable load data by collaborating
closely with specialists and ground staff. - Ensure the correct placement and weight distribution of catering supplies and
other in-flight materials, maintaining the aircraft's balance and operational
efficiency by regularly updating weight logs. - Ensure new aircraft configurations are correctly documented and integrated
into the weight and balance system, facilitating accurate load planning and
operational safety through detailed checks and updates. - Ensure the company meets all regulatory requirements and maintains high
safety standards by participating in regular safety audits and compliance
checks, contributing to the continuous improvement of operational safety.
Main Responsibilities - Tasks
- Categorise and record daily maintenance modifications.
- Update and log catering and inflight materials distributions (Pantry).
- Conduct weekly operational checks for new destinations.
- Validate loading sheets from ground handling agents weekly.
- Detect and account for special passenger groups.
- Compile and analyse biannual load sheet samples.
- Edit and update the Load Control Manual (LCM).
- Test and validate new digital load sheet applications.
- Perform operational checks for sports teams and other special groups.
- Maintain communication with maintenance regarding the impact of modifications.
- Support the specialist in investigating discrepancies in load sheets.
- Monitor the distribution of catering and other in-flight materials.
- Verify the integrity of weight and balance data for new aircraft configurations.
- Participate in safety audits and regulatory compliance checks.
Main Relationships
- Maintenance Department: To receive daily reports of modifications and changes in aircraft configurations, ensuring accurate updates to the weight and balance data.
- Customer Operations: To get information about special passenger groups such as sports teams, ensuring accurate weight calculations for flights.
- Inflight Retail: To obtain updates on catering and in-flight materials, ensuring accurate weight distribution.
- Safety Department: To assist in investigating discrepancies in load sheets and participate in safety audits, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Performance Department: To collaborate on operational checks for new destinations and updates to load sheets, maintaining the integrity of flight operations.
- Ground Handling Agents: To validate and ensure the integrity of weight and balance data through regular checks and updates, maintaining accurate load sheets for flight safety.
- Catering Suppliers: To receive updates on the weight and distribution of catering supplies, ensuring correct weight logs.
- Aircraft Modification Providers: To track and integrate modifications and equipment changes into the aircraft’s weight and balance system, maintaining safety and performance standards.
- External Software Providers: To test and validate new digital load sheet applications, ensuring functionality and reliability in load management systems.
- Regulatory Bodies (e.g., IATA): To ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations by participating in audits and implementing required changes.
Education
- A degree in Aeronautical Engineering is required.
Experience
- No prior work experience is required. This role is suitable for recent graduates from
aeronautical engineering programs. However, practical experience gained through
internships or related projects during the degree would be beneficial.
