As the
Maintenance Airworthiness Safety Controller (MASC), you will play a key role in meeting our Qantas vision and ensuring our technical capability. This role is responsible for providing guidance and oversight to maintenance engineers, maintenance supervisory staff, and engineering management as a Safety, Quality and Compliance leader. This role is also critical to ensuring our ongoing compliance with safety and quality standards, maintenance procedures and approved engineering practices. As the MASC in LAX, you will champion behavioural best practice and compliance with our procedures to ensure Qantas Engineering’s (QE’s) safety vision and regulatory requirements are met.
Reporting to the Manager Quality and Compliance and located at LAX, this role partners closely with our Engineering staff as well as other operational groups, including Fleet Management, to ensure that QE Quality and Safety systems are followed and a consistent approach for aircraft maintenance is met. In addition, you will also be accountable for the analysis and identification of key focus areas and developing strategies to address any deficiencies.
You’ll have –
- 5+ years’ experience in aircraft maintenance, with proven expertise operating within a regulated Part 145 maintenance engineering environment
- Extensive experience with aviation safety and airworthiness regulations, including CASA Civil Aviation Safety Regulations, EASA standards, and other National Aviation Authority frameworks
- Strong knowledge and experience within Line or Base Maintenance operations
- Proven experience with the CASA Civil Aviation & Safety Regulations, other NAA airworthiness regulations and various regulatory frameworks
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and time management skills, with a consistent ability to perform under pressure
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to educate, lead, influence and challenge stakeholders across all levels of the business
- Ability to work across varying time zones
