The Electrical Designer is responsible for the design, development, and documentation of industrial control panels. This role focuses on control panel design, motor control systems, PLC I/O architecture, and industrial power distribution while ensuring compliance with UL 508A and applicable NEC/NFPA standards. The engineer will collaborate closely with mechanical, manufacturing, and field teams to deliver safe, reliable, and compliant automation solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Design and layout industrial control panels for manufacturing and process environments

Develop motor control systems utilizing VFDs, soft starters, and across-the-line contactors

Design PLC I/O architecture, including discrete, analog, and safety I/O

Create electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams for industrial applications

Design and integrate power distribution systems ranging from 480 VAC to 24 VDC

Ensure control panel designs comply with UL 508A requirements, including SCCR considerations

Select electrical components and devices in accordance with project specifications and industry standards

Support panel fabrication, testing, and troubleshooting activities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams during design reviews, installation, and commissioning
Required Qualifications

Experience designing industrial control panels and electrical systems

Strong knowledge of motor control methods including VFDs, soft starters, and across-the-line starters

Experience with PLC I/O design and industrial control system architecture

Proficiency in industrial power distribution systems (480 VAC to 24 VDC)

Working knowledge of UL 508A standards and industrial electrical safety requirements
