Reporting to the Manager Airworthiness Operations, this is a unique opportunity to be part of a newly expanded Maintenance Watch team as a
Duty Technical Manager. In this business-critical role, you will be responsible for managing CAMO oversight of fleet Airworthiness through reporting, assessment, and management of rectification / deferral of defects as necessary, to support the operation.
Using your proven technical experience, you will operate closely with Aircraft Maintenance Organisations, other engineering departments, the Regional Operations Control team and Flying operations teams to safely achieve our on-time performance targets and minimise the duration of Engineering related AOG events.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain operation and reliability of fleet, and defect management
- Ensure the safe, compliant, and cost-effective execution of all maintenance relating to the fleets under their control, including necessary oversight and decision rights related to the services provided to the CAMO by the various AMO’s supporting the maintenance operation
- Monitor disruptions and estimates of rectification timeframes, downtime and provides information and alternative return to service outcomes ensuring perceived risks are addressed
- Work closely with QantasLink Planning, internal and external AMO’s, Regional Operation Control teams and Flying Operations Leadership in order to achieve optimum operational outcomes for the business and proactively minimise delays and protect on-time performance
- Ensure compliance with CAMO Exposition and Procedures
- Act as a primary conduit between various P42 internal departments, P145 providers and ROC for all aircraft airworthiness matters, conferring with the Continuing Airworthiness Manager and CAMO Responsible Mangers as required
- Decision rights (against ICA) and approval of on behalf of the CAMO for deferred aircraft defects
- Monitor aircraft maintenance due and deferred defects daily, ensuring open defects and MEL items are cleared in a timely fashion
- Maintaining Daily Event Data of all significant events / requirements in TRAX
- Monitoring the rectification of defects on delayed or potentially delayed flights and ensuring that estimated return to service times remain realistic
- Maintain Log / reporting of all procedural or technical issues arising through the shift
- Comply with Group Management Systems and Policy
You’ll Have
- Experience as a LAME B1 or B2 with a minimum of five years in a Line (desirable) or Base Maintenance environment, or previous experience in a Maintenance Watch or Technical support environment
- B1 or B2 LAME type rating on Dash 8 and/or B717, and/or A220 (desirable) or B1/B2 type rating on similar aircraft
- Strategic and analytical thinker with proven problem-solving and time management skills, particularly when under pressure
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within a team
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and process compliance
- Experience with the management of AOG Recovery of aircraft
- Ability to work as part of a team to produce safe, compliant and desirable outcomes on behalf of the business
- Ability to adapt with a focus on the ‘big picture’ when it comes to problem solving
- High level of Microsoft Office literacy
