The Senior Buyer, Indirect Purchases, is responsible for sourcing indirect goods and services that support company operations. This role leads RFQs, conducts pricing analysis, manages supplier negotiations, and establishes blanket annual purchase orders to secure competitive pricing and reliable delivery. The Senior Buyer manages supplier performance across cost, quality, and service while partnering with internal teams to meet operational needs and drive total cost-of-ownership improvements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive pricing analyses, cost breakdown evaluations, and total cost of ownership assessments to support sourcing recommendations
- Develop and manage RFQ/RFP processes for indirect materials and services, ensuring competitive bids aligned with technical and business requirements
- Lead robust price negotiations to secure best-value commercial terms, including pricing, service levels, warranties, and long-term agreements
- Negotiate, establish, and manage blanket annual purchase orders (BPOs) to optimize cost savings, ensure predictable delivery schedules, and improve overall supplier performance
- Collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers to define annual usage requirements that support effective BPO structuring and cost-optimization strategies
- Monitor BPO performance throughout the year to ensure supplier adherence to pricing, delivery commitments, and agreed-upon service levels
- Evaluate and select suppliers using data-driven criteria, including cost competitiveness, capabilities, financial stability, service history, and quality performance
- Analyze spend categories to identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, leveraging volume to improve pricing and reduce complexity
- Develop new sources of supply and maintain current supplier data related to pricing, delivery, and capabilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for supplier communications, performance discussions, and issue resolution
- Prepare and administer purchase orders and contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and budgetary requirements
- Monitor supplier performance and maintain records of pricing, delivery adherence, quality, and service
- Resolve supplier-related issues, including quality discrepancies, late deliveries, receiving problems, and invoicing challenges
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred)
- 6+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain, preferably with experience in indirect purchasing
- Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel and purchasing systems
- Demonstrated experience leading RFQs, performing price analyses, and negotiating pricing and commercial terms
- Experience negotiating and managing blanket agreements or long-term purchasing contracts strongly preferred
Benefits
The starting pay range for this position is $73,700 - $88,400 per year however, the base pay offered may vary depending on the level of the position, skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location.
