Engineer IV (Senior Measurement Technical Advisor)Role Overview
This role provides senior-level technical expertise supporting regional measurement assets and processes. The successful candidate will guide operations, troubleshoot complex issues, and act as a subject matter expert in measurement systems, gas quality, pressure control, and linebreak protection. The role may involve leading small teams, projects, or providing technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

Provide senior subject matter expertise in Meter Stations, Gas Quality, Linebreak systems, and Pressure Control/Overpressure Protection (PC/OPP).

Support the design, operation, upgrade, reactivation, and deactivation of meter stations and PC/OPP systems in alignment with regulatory requirements, standards, and best practices.

Plan and coordinate annual completion of regulatory requirements related to high and low intervention programs in collaboration with engineering and field teams.

Develop, implement, and maintain gas quality programs, including standards, procedures, coordination, reporting, and presentations to senior leadership.

Review and approve third-party PC/OPP designs and associated reporting.

Support Lost & Unaccounted For (LUF) management to ensure acceptable tolerances are maintained.

Provide day-to-day technical support and troubleshooting to resolve equipment and measurement data issues efficiently.

Act as a subject matter expert for vendor-supplied devices including meters, analyzers, EFM/RTUs, linebreak systems, and PC/OPP equipment.

Perform technical calculations such as blowdown analysis, flow calculations, and equipment sizing.

Develop business cases by collaborating with stakeholders, participating in risk ranking, and evaluating cost-effective technical solutions.

Liaise with external customers, engineering firms, and vendors.

Assist in the development and maintenance of measurement standards, specifications, and typical designs.

Apply Management of Change (MOC) processes to equipment and system modifications.
Role Scope

Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes, policies, standards, and industry best practices.

Provide senior technical leadership and coordinate small teams to deliver work on time and within budget.

Influence safety outcomes through participation in operational risk management, root cause analyses, and lessons learned.

Improve reliability and efficiency through evaluation of new technologies, performance reviews, and lifecycle planning.

Work effectively with minimal supervision in a collaborative team environment.

Influence stakeholders on technical and cost-related matters in a professional and composed manner.
Qualifications & Skills

University degree in a relevant technical discipline with 7+ years of experience, or 10+ years of field operations measurement experience.

Experience with natural gas measurement equipment considered an asset.

Strong knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (e.g., CSA, AGA, API, GPA).

Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and demonstrated support of compliance initiatives.

Proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders without direct authority.

Experience with industrial controllers used in measurement applications (e.g., ControlWave, FB1200/FB3000).

Excellent communication, facilitation, coordination, and presentation skills.
Working Conditions

Primarily office-based with approximately 15% travel to field locations across North America.
-
Occasional work outside standard business hours may be required.
-
Valid driver’s abstract and drug & alcohol clearance required due to site visits.
