Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Associate degree in a field related to the position.
- Minimum of 10 years of recent progressively responsible experience in drafting related to engineering and construction.
- Working knowledge of applicable Federal (including Department of Energy Orders), State, and Local codes and standards, particularly within nuclear-regulated engineering environments.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and project teams.
- Background and experience must include drafting/designer experience in one or more engineering disciplines, such as:
- Electrical
- Mechanical
- Structural
- Communications
- Architectural
- Fire Protection
- Civil
Job DescriptionThe Senior Design Specialist provides advanced technical drafting and design support with minimal supervision. This role is responsible for originating, interpreting, and producing engineering drawings, supporting complex engineering and construction projects, and mentoring junior designers. The position works closely with engineers and project teams to ensure accurate and compliant design execution.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting applications to originate and produce engineering drawings with minimal supervision.
- Utilize 3D modeling tools (S3D preferred) to support design development and execution.
- Read, interpret, and generate design drawings with minimal input from engineering staff.
- Lay out and interpret field systems with limited guidance, incorporating field direction into design documentation.
- Generate minor design details and create new drawings as required.
- Modify and update existing drawings to reflect design changes or field conditions.
- Direct and provide technical guidance to junior drafters as needed.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Familiarity with multi-disciplinary engineering environments and large EPC projects.
- You should also haveexperience with MicroStation and Intergraph Smart 3D.
