Overview:
This position is for a Lead Repair Engineering Professional with sound knowledge and technical expertise in designing repairs and providing technical solutions on all Collins Aerostructures commercial Nacelle hardware to help minimize aircraft downtime and ensure compliance with certified type design and airworthiness (FAA/EASA) requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Quickly understands and assesses Airlines’ unique requirements and provides technical and informational support for in-service issues.
- Reviews various maintenance documentation to identify solution(s) for in-service concerns and look proactively for potential fleet solutions.
- Reviews engineering drawings and installations to ensure customer questions/concerns are resolved.
- Investigate the problems to provide engineering dispositions of discrepancies to return airplanes to revenue services.
- Design repair solutions for medium to complex technical issues requiring creativity and ingenuity in helping airlines with operational and maintenance requirements.
- Make engineering judgments and apply technical expertise to perform repair design development on metallic and composite structures.
- Communicate with Airline customers for rapid development of technical solutions and work with Airframers, Engine Manufacturers and Suppliers as necessary, to evaluate repair technical data.
- Work with Collins Spares team, Airline/Field Support Managers in resolving Customer issues.
- Comply with the US and country specific export control requirements.
- Report into Aftermarket technical services manager and help in driving organization’s vision of the best aerospace systems company in the worlds.
- Work with a globally diverse aftermarket team of highly skilled engineers and be at the forefront of driving airline customer experience.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors or master’s degree in Mechanical engineering or Aeronautics with 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Sound knowledge of developing repairs for metallic and/or composite structures and various inspection methods and common defects.
- Demonstrate technical understanding of maintenance, repair, overhaul, and regulatory requirements in the commercial aircraft industry.
- Flexibility to work in day shifts, weekends and holidays, on rotation as required is imperative.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with short lead times handling multiple repair tasks.
Preferred Skills:
- Functional knowledge of Nacelle Systems and its components on various civil aircraft programs.
- Previous experience in Aftermarket customer support engineering organization.
- Very good familiarity and working knowledge of CRM systems like MS Dynamics.
- Conversant with maintenance manuals such as Component Maintenance Manual, Aircraft Maintenance Manual, Structural Repair Manuals, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, etc.
- Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Experience in handling of repair, maintenance and retrofit processes, practices and documentation.
- Good team player, willing to work in a dynamic and fast paced collaborative environment.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task, and manage time effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with short lead times handling multiple repair tasks.
- Basic knowledge of Nacelle Systems for legacy aircraft programs and new aircraft programs such B787, A320Neo, A220, A350 is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of EASA/FAA requirements and Associated Repair documentations.
- Strong Knowledge of Catia V5 (part, assembly, surface design tools), Added advantage with Catia CPD/CPE and Fibersim for composites and Enovia.
