We are seeking Interns in Materials and Process Engineering (MPE) to work at our India Engineering Center campus in Bengaluru, India.
Job Description:
- The intern will be supporting various materials and process engineer roles in with global PW teams and global services engineering.
The job will include projects with global teams in the areas of advanced materials testing, mechanical testing, additive manufacturing, thermal spray coatings, failure analysis, materials modelling and support to qualification of global and local suppliers in manufacturing, and to set processes to qualify and certify suppliers for Pratt & Whitney parts.
In addition to above:
Understanding on Gas turbine engine Materials, Coatings, Additive Manufacturing, Joining, Brazing and non-destructive testing techniques will be a added advantage.
- Modeling and experimental support for various aspects of assessment of structural integrity, such as creep, fatigue, corrosion of gas turbine and allied aspects
- Review and support Specifications pertaining to manufacturing of parts for PW
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Qualifications/Requirements
M.Tech in Materials Science / Metallurgical Engineering / Mechanical engineering or related discipline.
- Experience in involving and reviewing gas turbine materials, casting, forging and welding
- Excellent knowledge of Metallurgy, especially physical metallurgy
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
Desired Characteristics:
- Strong fundamental understanding of welding, brazing, coating, machining, casting, additive manufacturing
- Strong fundamental understanding of damage evolution in Ni based Superalloys and steel including their manufacturing processes
- Expertise in FEM and Materials simulations such as casting, forging and welding modeling /materials modeling
Other Major Areas Of Responsibilities Or Tasks
- Attend and have participation in group meetings, teleconferences and/or training required.
- Actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement using CORE tools and support AS9100D efforts.
- Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company.
Basic Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (Machine Design or equivalent)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Gas turbine working principle.
- Knowledge of any programing languages.
