The role
As a Senior Safety Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Babcock are significantly upgrading the Devonport site and as such you will have the opportunity to support the design and build of new, submarine maintenance facilities.
Day to day, you’ll be responsible for providing Babcock’s operations with specialist knowledge and support relating to nuclear and radiological safety.
- Provide direction on safety projects in line with strategy
- Support the delivery of nuclear safety cases and modifications to these cases
- Develop and implement nuclear safety processes and standards
- Provide technical advice on nuclear safety assessment processes and policy
This role is full time, 35 hours per week provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office/onsite and days working from home.
Essential experience of the Safety Assessment Manager
- Possess great interpersonal and leadership skills and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience or background of working in a highly regulated industry i.e. oil and gas, nuclear, rail aviation.
- Knowledge of nuclear engineering, and safety policy and assessment methodologies is extremely desirable to support this role.
Qualifications for the Senior Safety Engineer
- Educated to Degree level in an Engineering or Scientific discipline and have relevant experience.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
