Johnson Service Group an award-winning staffing company, is looking for a Final Inspector with 3-5 years’ experience working in Aerospace environment. This is a Temp-Direct job in the Chatsworth, CA area.Salary $27.00 HREssential Responsibilities/DutiesIn the performance of their respective tasks and duties all Final Inspection employees are expected to conform to the following:
- Perform detailed final inspections of outbound aerospace hardware.
- Inspect dimensional, visual, and mechanical characteristics to blueprint and contractual requirements.
Validate conformance to:
- Engineering drawings
- Purchase order requirements
- Customer-specific quality clauses
- Flow-down requirements
- Determine acceptability of product for shipment based on objective evidence.
- Exercise sound judgment in borderline tolerance conditions and escalate when required.
- Document inspection results with full traceability and accountability.
Delegated Inspection Authority
- Earn and maintain delegated inspection certifications for approved aerospace customers.
- Perform delegated inspection releases in accordance with customer requirements.
- Ensure all documentation required for delegated release is complete and accurate prior to shipment.
- Understand and comply with customer-specific delegation limitations.
- Immediately escalate any suspected compliance risk affecting delegated authority.
First Article Inspection (FAI) Support Assist Customer or Supplier Quality Representatives, Quality Specialists, or Lead Quality personnel in FAI preparation.
- Review ballooned drawings for accuracy.
- Verify dimensional results against tolerance requirements.
- Validate supporting documentation (material certs, plating certs, test reports, special process documentation).
- Identify discrepancies prior to customer submission.
- Ensure FAI documentation aligns with AS9102 requirements before escalation for final review.
- Support corrective action efforts related to rejected FAI submissions.
Note: This role does not independently perform or approve FAIs.Customer Portal & Documentation Management
- Access and navigate multiple aerospace customer portals.
- Upload inspection documentation, certifications, and quality records as required.
- Validate documentation accuracy before portal submission.
- Monitor portal communications related to quality issues or documentation rejections.
- Maintain compliance with digital record retention requirements.
- Ensure Certificates of Conformance (COCs), test reports, and traceability documentation are complete and accurate.
Nonconformance & Escalation Management
- Identify, segregate, and document nonconforming material.
- Initiate Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) when required.
- Quarantine product pending disposition.
- Escalate systemic or repeated nonconformances to Quality leadership.
- Support containment actions to prevent escape.
- Participate in root cause discussions as subject matter expert.
- Prevent shipment of any product that presents compliance risk.
Precision Measurement & Technical Inspection
- Proficient in use of advanced inspection equipment including:
- Micrometers (OD/ID)
- Calipers
- Height Gauges
- Optical Comparators
- Thread & Ring Gauges
- Bore Gauges
- Pin Gauges
- Surface Plates
- Instant Measurement Systems
- Eye loupes and magnification systems
Must demonstrate:
- Advanced GD&T interpretation
- Ability to interpret complex aerospace drawings
- Understanding of tolerance stack-ups
- Working knowledge of geometric controls such as true position, profile, perpendicularity, concentricity, runout, etc.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Receiving, Inbound, and Quality Specialist teams.
- Communicate effectively with Customer Quality Representatives.
- Provide technical clarification to warehouse and operations staff.
- Support audit preparation when required.
- Train and mentor junior and new inspectors on inspection standards and documentation accuracy.
- Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
- Interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers.
- Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
- Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
- Follow company safety policies and procedures.
