Position Summary:
The Aircraft Underwriter’s primary role is to review and underwrite contracts for the JSSI HCM programs, along with providing financial models for the life of an asset’s contract term. The Aircraft Underwriter will review cost assumptions and provide reports on how contracts are performing against the underwritten assumptions. The position is required to provide cross functional support for Asset Management with pricing, modeling, and projects as necessary\n
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect cost data from functional representatives, contractors and vendors
- Compute cost estimates of material procurement, repair, replenishment and transportation
- Provide detailed profit and loss estimates
- Create cost models for cost estimating elements
- Prepare cost reports and present findings to management
- Utilize cost data to construct profitable pricing models
- Provide on-going reporting to the Director of Pricing in support of price revisions and updating as required
- Research and underwrite aircraft rates for new, transfer and renewal contracts
- Maintain the database used for airframe and engine rate calculations
- Research cost comparisons – actual vs data base pricing
- Provide technical support to support to the Client Services and Sales Staff with regards to inspection programs and rates
- Communicate changes to inspection requirements to the Technical Services field reps
- Research Service Bulletin and Airworthiness Directives as required
- Assist with cost analysis studies and research projects
Desired Credentials:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Aviation or Finance Related)
- 2-3 years aviation technical experience
- Knowledge of aircraft maintenance and logistics
- Working knowledge of aircraft inspection requirements
- Experience with maintenance planning and forecasting is a plus
- Maintenance Controller experience a plus
- Ability to ensure a factual audit trail is established for all pricing efforts supporting contract proposals
- A & P license a plus
- Experience with pricing and cost modeling is a strong plus
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills to deal with the public and aviation industry professionals
- Ability to read and write articulately and analytically
- Clear understanding of relevant technical skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Proficient in Excel

For this role, the annual base pay generally ranges from $75,000 to $83,000, with the final offer determined by variable factors including but not limited to market location, job-specific knowledge, skills, education, and experience. In addition, your total rewards package may include an annual discretionary bonus plan, incentive or sales bonus plan, or other form of additional compensation, based on your role.
