About the team you are joining
The successful candidate, who will report to the Country Manager,
will support supplier management, development, improvement, and local
implementation of promotional capabilities to strengthen the perception and
understanding of the aviation sector. This role will foster a more agile
approach to internal processes, generating operational benefits for our IATA
member airlines. The candidate will support the local office in enhancing
IATA's ability to represent, promote, and protect the interests of its members.
What your day would be like
- Advise and support the Country Manager in maintaining effective relationships with providers, key personnel from member and non-member airlines, government stakeholders, political groups, and other non-traditional stakeholders.
- Assist the Country Manager to discern key issues to improve intelligence gathering and support advocacy efforts for the betterment of the industry.
- Support the entire IATA activities in the Local Office. Monitor and report on aero political, economic, and commercial developments, advocating for the adoption of industry best practices in both passenger and cargo operations.
- Support the Country Manager and team members researching and preparing documentation and presentations for campaigns, sales activities and industry meetings.
- Coordinate and support the Country Manager and members of the local office, with the consolidation of advocacy-related coalitions to support industry objectives.
- Monitor and report to the Country Manager and the relevant departments in the Regional Office on new or modifications associated with key practices in both passenger and cargo operations or other relevant matters ensuring members' interests are at the core of every action.
- Accompany the Country Manager and senior managers to meetings with authorities and other stakeholders, providing advice to the Country Manager on key issues for the benefit of the industry.
- Support the Country in identifying commercial opportunities
- Promote the social and economic value of aviation at all levels in coordination with the Regional Office and with Regional Economist.
- Identify and promote new value propositions for member airlines.
- Support the onboarding and understanding of IATA membership among new entrant airlines.
- Advise the Country Manager for the deployment of innovative and integrated advocacy efforts to help convey a positive image of the industry and influence stakeholders’ policy decision making.
- Serve as an advisor to the Country Manager and to regional senior management on aero-political matters in the country.
- Support the Country Manager and the members in the local office in the execution of the operational plans aligned with the Americas Strategic Plan, coordinating with other IATA Departments and countries needed.
- Organize meetings and events as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Country Manager.

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economy or a related field.
- Preferably 2-3 years of experience in the airline industry.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work under pressure in complex, cross-cultural environments.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with relevant stakeholders.
- Excellent technology and PC skills, including MS Office Programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and MS Project, familiarity with databases and a CRM tool such as Salesforce.
- Command of English and Spanish languages both spoken and written.
- Strong innovation and creative mindset, including digital communication capabilities.
- This is not a remote position; the successful candidate will be required to work three days from the office.
