Role Introduction
The Passenger Revenue Accounting Manager sits under the Financial Services Department in Cathay, will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Passenger Revenue Accounting System and ensuring the compliance of internal policies, external audit requirements, and accounting standards. The Passenger Revenue Accounting Manager will also be responsible for coordinating system operations and integration across departments and leading project development related to passenger revenue accounting. Additionally, you will be responsible for handling inter-line accounting and audit processes and maintaining adherence to International Air Transport Association and Oneworld standards.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Management, Control and Support
- Oversee and control the security of Passenger Revenue Accounting System in compliance with internal policy and external audit requirements; and manage and review the setting of accounting business rules, other business rules and special proration agreements in the Passenger Revenue Accounting System to ensure compliance with accounting standards and meet business objectives
- Formulate procedures and guidelines to cope with system operation and design; and interact closely with other departments across upstream and downstream systems integration related to Passenger Revenue Accounting processes and development; and engage in project development and implementation, coordinate with Information Technology portfolio, business users and other departments
Passenger interline accounting and audit
- Ensure all interline billings, rejections or proration are processed in compliance of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) rules and regulations; and monitor the International Air Transport Association Clearing House outstanding balances and ensure all relevant parties take appropriate action to those carriers who are unable to settle the balances on time
- Ensure the roles and responsibilities, e-Services Agreement Level, ticket proration in compliance of Oneworld standard and requirement; and participate in Oneworld audits
- Monitor and review the existing Joint Business Agreement performance, participate in evaluation of new Joint Business Agreement model; and attend Joint Business Agreement and International Air Transport Association meetings and discussions
- Monitor the activities including account reconciliation, prorate calculation, settlement which related to Frequent Flyer Programme tickets. Communicate with Customer Relationship and Retail or Revenue Management Alliance Team when discrepancies are found
- Partner with Commercial Team to review agreements related to any Joint Business Agreement, Special Proration Agreement, code-share, Frequent Flyer Programme, and provide comments; follow up any queries about interline billings, Oneworld billings, Frequent Flyer Programme, Joint Business Agreement and code-share process
- Coach Passenger Revenue Accounting Team in Hong Kong and the shared services centre in Guangzhou for proration and interline related matters; and support Head of Finance- Customer Travel in various International Air Transport Association working groups for promoting interline passenger revenue accounting best practices to enhance efficiency
Team Management
- Lead a team of 5 members to function daily task activities smoothly and effectively to ensure all task activities are completed on a timely basis and performed in a right manner to fulfil management requirements and company policy and provide guidance and workable solution to solve problems
- Formulate guidelines and procedures for Passenger Revenue Accounting System and Interline accounting related matters
Requirements
- 10 years’ experience in managing accounting systems, preferably with revenue accounting experience of an airline and minimum 5 years in a supervisory role
- Good knowledge in airline industry, ticketing, International Air Transport Association resolution and accounting principle
- Sound knowledge in Passenger Revenue Accounting processes and end to end system work flow a definite plus
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to professionally communicate in a multicultural environment
- Good command of both spoken and written English and Cantonese or Chinese
- Sound analytical, problem solving and leadership skills
- Able to work both independently as well as being an effective team player
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience in using SAP and financial closing advantageous
- Able to work under pressure and being flexible when necessary to meet deadlines
