Role Introduction
Reports to: Assistant Learning Manager – Cargo Services
This role is responsible for delivering learning programmes for cargo services staff as well as train-the-trainer certification courses for ground handling agent trainers.
As the learning specialist, you will ensure cargo and freighter operations staff have the required knowledge, skills and attributes to be safe, operationally competent, service- minded and regulatory compliant.
You will be an ambassador of Cathay Academy and should extend world-class service to programme participants in line with Cathay’s service excellence culture. You will be driving the learning journeys of the assigned subject matter for all participants, contributing a big part to the experience that we aspire to provide for all participants from new joiners to seasoned practitioners.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver functional, technical and service programmes system-wide for cargo and freighter aircraft ramp staff and handling agents
- Deliver train-the-trainer certification courses for ground handling agent trainers. Conduct supplier training / trainer auditing programmes in outports
- Actively liaise with local port training coordinator to identify local needs and support learning plans
- Participate in new training programme design and delivery projects
- Provide ‘cutover’ training to ensure new stations, change of suppliers, new terminals and new systems are effectively launched
Requirements
- 5+ years of cargo and freighter operations experience (supervisory experience or above) preferred
- Role model of customer service and operational excellence
- Possesses in-depth subject matter and sound cargo operational knowledge, e.g. Dangerous Goods Handling and Regulations, Cargo Services and Tariff, Warehouse & Ramp operations and Aircraft Loading Supervision etc. will be advantageous
- Solid PC knowledge in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint a must
- Knowledge of Cargospot System (CSS), Advanced Loadsheet Planning System (ALPS) or Amadeus Altéa Departure Control – Flight Management (Altéa FM) will be advantageous
- Strong personal presence and verbal / non-verbal communication skills
- Excellent verbal and written command of English, working proficiency in Cantonese is preferred
- Adaptive team player with strong sense of responsibility and planning skills
- Passion for learning and facilitation skills to deliver learning sessions would be advantageous
- Willingness to travel extensively and work occasionally during rest days and public holidays (compensatory day off will be given in lieu)
