Role Introduction
The Sustainable Finance Manager sits under the Financial Services department will be actively involved with and lead execution on a portfolio of projects related to sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance, including Carbon Emissions reporting and reduction, in support of Cathay’s overall Group sustainable development commitments. As a Sustainable Finance Manager, you will be responsible for developing processes, planning and delivering projects, and providing other finance business partnering to Group Sustainability Department.
Key Responsibilities
Sustainability Finance - Internal Carbon Pricing
- Facilitate the adoption and continuous improvement of the Internal Carbon Pricing policy and prepare annual Internal Carbon Pricing updates and briefing materials for stakeholders
- Conduct benchmark analysis to validate Internal Carbon Pricing assumptions and outcomes
Sustainability Cost Management
- Identify ways to improve tracking, classification, and reporting of sustainability-related costs
- Perform monthly analysis to support management insight and decision-making and educate Finance and Business teams on correct cost capture and reporting
Value Creation Initiatives
- Monitor market developments in sustainable finance and identify potential value creation or cost-saving opportunities for Cathay
- Present recommendations to Group Sustainability and work with relevant teams to support high-potential initiatives
Finance Business Partnering - Financial Planning & Analysis
- Prepare budget and forecast for Group Sustainability, including Sustainability Aviation Fuel cost; and prepare monthly financial review for Group Sustainability; and prepare and coordinate interim and annual financial review related to Group Sustainability
Sustainability Aviation Fuel accounting
- Oversee monthly profit and loss and balance sheet movements for Sustainable Aviation Fuel and ensure correct accounting treatment for Sustainability Aviation Fuel
- Provide guidance on Sustainability Aviation Fuel cost accounting treatment and process
Stakeholder Management
- Work with Business Units to support sustainability-related financial matters and maintain regular engagement with subsidiaries and regional teams on sustainability finance topics
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in accounting, corporate finance, investment bank and consulting for financial services. Preferably experience with aviation or consumer goods
- Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university, preferably in Accounting or Finance. Master’s degree is a plus
- Proficiency in English; Cantonese or Mandarin an advantage
- Project management certification and/or Environmental, Social, and Governance or sustainable finance certification is a plus
- Sustainable finance experience is a plus
- Working knowledge of sustainability schemes and sustainable finance products, preferably with exposure to the airline industry International Civil Aviation Organization Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation reporting and financings
- High awareness of industry sustainability trends with advanced knowledge in one or more domain (i.e. decarbonisation solutions, Environmental, Social, and Governance regulations, data, and sustainable finance products)
