Role Introduction
Reports to: Strategic Operations Planning Manager
Join Cathay as Assistant Manager – Strategic Operations Planning & Schedule Integrity where you will report directly to the Strategic Operations Planning Manager and play a vital role in driving schedule integrity and operational excellence across Cathay’s passenger and freighter operations.
In this role, you will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders to validate key schedule assumptions, such as Precision Timing Schedule (PTS) and block time, and analyse schedule performance, including on‑time performance and hub connectivity. You will translate data into actionable insights to enhance near‑term schedule performance and continuously improve the network planning process.
To deliver integrated and efficient analysis, you will also be actively involved in the development and adoption of digital tools for operations and schedule planning, including platforms such as NOVA and Ops360, helping shape the future of Cathay’s operational planning capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and optimise flight schedules in support of operational excellence.
- Review hub and outport flight schedules to proactively identify constraints and bottlenecks impacting on‑time performance (OTP) for both passenger and freighter operations.
- Continuously monitor operational performance, investigate root causes of disruption, and recommend initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, resilience, and schedule integrity.
- Collaborate closely with hub operational units (including ASD, CSD, ENG, FOP, ISD, among others) to establish an effective feedback loop between operational realities and the schedule planning cycle.
- Maintain, review, and ensure consistent application of hub and network standards and policies related to operations and schedule planning, including standard ground time, connectivity, and PTS.
- Ensure clear communication, alignment, and adherence to PTS standards throughout the turnaround process in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor key operational metrics (e.g. OTP performance, delay drivers, block time, PTS) to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities, and manage stakeholder enquiries or disputes related to delay cases.
- Produce regulatory and operational analysis, including tarmac delay data to ensure compliance with US DOT 14 CFR Part 244, and prepare OTP reports with actionable insights.
- Provide data‑driven inputs to support business planning, seasonal schedule development, corporate strategy, and conduct deep‑dive or scenario analyses as required.
- Work with digital and analytics teams to enhance data capabilities and actively engage in digital product development (e.g. Nova, Ops360) to strengthen schedule resilience and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- University graduate or equivalent is required with minimum 5 years Airline experience
- Strong understanding on network planning and operations planning including but not limited to hub operations, schedule integrity, turnaround process
- Strong digital and analytics skills, communication and presentation skills
- Proficient in planning, problem solving, organising and time management skills with the ability to independently prioritise and deliver multiple tasks within defined timeline
- Strong interpersonal skills. Able to interact with people at all levels and from different backgrounds
- Able to work independently and proactively with innovation to drive change
