Role Introduction
To create an engaged and high performing culture within all functions and countries within the region. This role will proactively partner with line managers to support them to engage, develop and coach their people as well as delivering high quality training and development into the region.
The role will be accountable for internal employee communications to ensure meaningful and engaging communications that is able to outreach to the various employee groups.
Key Responsibilities
Line Manager Capability & Leadership Development
- Provide proactive support to line managers to build engaged, high-performing teams through Cathay Academy programmes.
- Deliver local leadership development initiatives (training, coaching, micro-learning, drop-in sessions) using central frameworks.
- Partner with Area/Country PPL and Heads to identify and nominate new leaders, and track post-training effectiveness.
- Leverage technology and innovative approaches to deliver remote coaching and training support.
People Development
- Ensure timely and engaging local induction for new hires (Brushwingers), including completion of required eLearning and safety training.
- Drive full compliance with mandatory training across the region.
- Facilitate centrally designed training programmes effectively at the local level.
- Conduct regular Training Needs Analysis and develop targeted training to address skills gaps.
- Prepare and manage training budgets accurately for Regional Head of People, SEA&O.
- Generate training completion reports for stakeholders.
- Identify and secure local government funding opportunities for training initiatives.
- Measure training effectiveness using central tools and provide feedback to Cathay Academy to align global programmes locally.
Engagement
- Develop and execute a regional Internal Communications & Engagement plan aligned to business needs and global initiatives.
- Partner with global teams to localise engagement strategies and share best practices.
- Promote recognition programmes (e.g. Work Well Done, Betsy awards) and develop local initiatives.
- Foster a strong customer service culture across teams.
- Partner with communities and TA/TM teams to support employer branding in the region.
Communications
- Plan and deliver internal communication campaigns aligned with company strategy.
- Create engaging content across channels (intranet, video, digital screens, social media).
- Manage and enhance communication platforms to maximise reach and effectiveness.
- Provide communications support for business projects and crisis situations.
- Analyse communication performance and provide insights and recommendations.
- Manage external vendors/agencies and stay updated on communications trends.
- Support broader Communications, Engagement & Development initiatives as required.
Team Leadership
- Lead and motivate the regional Communications, Engagement & Development team.
- Drive knowledge sharing and consistent best practices across the region.
Requirements
Academic Qualifications
- Degree in Human Resources or equivalent (preferred)
- Certificates in adult education / training delivery (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, Training And Experience
- 8 years of experience in HR or closely related area
- Practical experience in communications, engagement & development areas of People scope in SEA & Oceania countries
- Demonstrably superior communication and facilitation skills
- Confident and experienced in training design and delivery
- Practical experience in leading team members and influencing skills remote teams
- High energy and motivational style
- Confident in conducting engagement events
- Strong technology skills and ability to self-create materials
- Strong business acumen skills with cross cultural understanding of SEA & Oceania trends and opportunities
- Comfortable in a highly matrix environment and able to ability to influence a team environment
