As a
Group Strategy Manager, you will be responsible for leading strategic projects undertaken by Group Strategy in collaboration with Senior Management. Project work typically involves complex and detailed analytical review of current business and industry performance and developing improvement and growth recommendations for the Group.
Group Strategy Manager has ownership of strategy and transformation projects with support from either the Director or Head of Strategy (depending on scale of work), including designing the approach, engaging with stakeholders, leading more junior team members, managing the delivery of the project. Managers are expected to develop and teach more junior team members both in technical and soft skills. A successful Manager will develop a great team and deliver significant positive impact to the Group.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
- 7-10 years of professional experience, with a minimum of 5 years at a top-tier consulting firm (such as Bain, BCG, McKinsey, or Kearney), with experience in the airline or in house corporate strategy team desirable
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (MBA preferred)
- Superior strategic development, financial, communications and project management skills.
- Ability and confidence to quickly identify key issues, structure a project plan and develop strategic options.
- Thorough understanding of strategic evaluation and financial evaluation techniques.
- Experience in leading project teams and developing staff.
- Aviation industry experience will be beneficial but not essential
- Sound organisational skills with an ability to prioritise conflicting tasks to meet strict deadlines
- A history of delivering impact in business including transitioning strategic insights and recommendations into action and impact
- Strong verbal communication and relationship-building skills, and a high level of emotional intelligence to work with and manage stakeholders across the Qantas Group
- A strong interest in the airline industry and a desire to gain knowledge and experience across a variety of Qantas Group businesses
- A desire to work in and contribute to a diverse, collaborative, high-performing, and social team environment
