As a
Senior Strategy Associate you will be responsible for leading the design and execution of end-to-end strategic projects and major workstreams undertaken by the Group Strategy team in collaboration with senior management. Strategy projects are unique in nature and have high-value and high-impact outcomes for the business. Strategy projects are generally initiated internally or with the direction of the Board, Exco, the CEO or the CFO. Group Senior Strategy Associates are responsible for independently driving their team and self to deliver stand-alone pieces of work that are self-contained projects, or which contribute to a larger strategic initiative.
Senior Strategy Associates have ownership of the end-to-end program of work with support of a senior manager, including leading the creation of content, using business expertise to navigate complex and sensitive topics, and collaborating with and presenting to senior stakeholders to inform significant strategic decisions. Senior Associates are expected to foster development of team members by driving and coaching their team in the use of the traditional strategy toolkit, as well as the latest in innovation methodologies.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- 5+ years' professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a top-tier consulting firm (such as Bain, BCG, McKinsey, or Kearney) and experience in investment banking, in-house corporate strategy function with-in a large corporate or a professional services firm
- Relevant tertiary qualifications required; MBA preferred
- Lateral thinker with the intellectual capability to quickly understand and apply new concepts
- Ability to work in and contribute to a high performing, collaborative team environment
- Outstanding analytical, financial, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- Excellent ability to create high-quality quantitative analysis and written materials for presentation to senior management and the Board of Directors
- A highly structured style and results-oriented approach with the intellectual capability to quickly understand and apply new concepts
- Ability to work independently with minimal management input and communicate outcomes to senior management
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint, experience working with AI tools and experimenting with fit-for-purpose use cases
- Sound organisational skills and the proven ability to prioritise conflicting tasks to meet strict deadlines
- Strong relationship-building skills and a high level of emotional intelligence to work with and manage stakeholders across the Qantas Group
- A desire to work in and contribute to a diverse, collaborative, high-performing, and social team environment
- Emotional intelligence and maturity to deal with sensitive and confidential business projects
- A high level of commitment and professionalism
- A strong interest in the airline industry and a desire to gain knowledge and experience across a variety of Qantas Group businesses
