DESIGN FOR MANUFACTURING ENGINEER - PCBA (STARLINK)
As a member of the design and engineering team, the Design for Manufacturing -PCBA Engineer will be responsible for improving and maintaining quality requirements for the manufacturing of Starlink satellite and gateway PCBAs. They will be active participants in the design of Products, and their work will have a direct impact on the build yield and longevity of Starlink designs. These Engineers are also expected to be proactive in seeking process improvements, conducting experiments and rolling in changes to enhance PCBA designs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As a member of the design team, work in collaboration with Manufacturing and Supplier Development Engineers to drive requirements for SMT process across satellite and gateway programs
- Advocate and drive consolidation of SMT assembly requirements, aligning internal and external SMT products
- Perform reviews of PCBs before release to address manufacturing issues such as thermal unbalancing, component breakout and footprint design
- Identify trends and opportunities for optimizing product output, quality enhancements, and cost of manufacturing
- Develop test vehicles to validate and propose new process, in particular for new designs and new silicon
- Drive corrective actions into designs based on manufacturing defects and yield issues
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or other STEM discipline
- 1+ years work experience in SMT processing and/or microelectronics packaging either from industry, research, internships or academic projects
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with reliability modeling of solder joints
- Experience with automated PCB review software
- Experience with Xpedition Design Software
- Scripting and data analysis experience using Python, Excel, Matlab or similar
- Knowledge of supplier quality processes (production part approval process, advanced product quality planning, first article inspection reports, etc.)
- Knowledge of statistical techniques and methods, e.g., design of experiments, Six Sigma, etc.
- Masters degree in Material Science
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to do minimal travel
- Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission critical deadlines

Pay range:
Design for Manufacturing Engineer - PCBA/Level I: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00/per year
Design for Manufacturing Engineer - PCBA/Level II: $115,000.00 - $135,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
