Must Have skills:
- 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering system design and commissioning activities, including at least 5 years in oil & gas and a minimum of 3 years in renewable energy projects (solar, wind, HV substations, BESS and grid interconnection).
- In-depth knowledge of HV substations (34.5kV – 345kV), PV or wind plant electrical systems, power system analysis, and protection & control schemes.
- Strong understanding of grid interconnection processes and utility-scale renewable energy integration.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical engineering.
- Professional Engineer designation with APEGA or equivalent, or eligibility to register.

Nice to Have skills
- Familiarity with SCADA, RTUs, and communication protocols (DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850)
- Experience with cable heating, AC/DC cable losses, transient recovery voltage (TRV), insulation coordination, grounding, load flow, short circuit, and transformer energization studies
- Experience with power system analysis and modeling software tools (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD, SKM)
Responsibilities
- Lead the review of EPC contractor engineering and design packages, including IFR and IFC packages, for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
- Provide technical feedback and coordinate design refinements with EPC contractors, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
- Assess HV substation, solar PV, and wind plant electrical designs, including general arrangements, one-line diagrams, grounding, protection schemes, and relay coordination studies.
- Ensure proper integration of MV and HV equipment, including main power transformers, inverters, switchgear, and circuit breakers.
- Confirm adherence to applicable industry codes, standards, interconnection requirements, and project procedures.
- Review and support the preparation of detailed engineering and construction drawings for assigned project areas.
- Ensure designs provide sufficient information to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective construction of solar and wind facilities.
- Evaluate design risks and recommend practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with EPC teams and regulatory teams to support documentation submissions and ensure compliance with operational and interconnection requirements.
- Participate in design review meetings to confirm scope, design consistency, and expected performance.
- Lead material specification and requisition activities by reviewing vendor quotations, completing technical bid evaluations, and providing recommendations based on technical merit.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to support material procurement through internal tools.
- Provide technical support across project development, detailed design, construction, commissioning, closeout, and operations readiness.
- Respond to engineering-related RFIs and provide technical guidance for field modifications during construction.
- Support commissioning and testing of HV substations, PV and wind plant electrical systems, and protection systems.
- Participate in factory acceptance tests and site acceptance tests for major electrical equipment as required.
- Recommend improvements to internal specifications, design standards, procedures, and engineering processes.
