Job Summary
Support the QS Manager in the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS) and Quality Management System (QMS) at the assigned station in accordance with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.).
The Senior QHSE Officer ensures operational compliance with Swissport procedures, regulatory requirements, and airline customer standards, while assisting in safety monitoring, audits, reporting, and risk management activities to maintain high QHSE performance across station operations.
Your Activities
QHSE Compliance & Monitoring
- Support the QS Manager in ensuring compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) requirements across all station operations.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Safety Management System (SMS).
- Ensure operational compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) at the station level.
- Monitor compliance with labor law regulations, airline customer requirements, and Swissport policies.
Safety Awareness & Operational Support
- Deliver daily safety briefings and toolbox talks to operational teams.
- Promote hazard identification and reporting through the SMT system.
- Support QHSE awareness initiatives and contribute to building a strong safety culture within the station.
Incident Management & Risk Assessment
- Support the investigation of incidents and accidents, ensuring proper documentation and reporting.
- Assist in conducting operational risk assessments and monitoring the implementation of mitigation actions.
- Follow up on corrective and preventive actions related to incidents and safety findings.
- Audits & Inspections
- Conduct operational inspections and audits across ramp operations, passenger handling, flight documentation, GSE, cleaning, and coordination activities.
- Document findings and support the QS Manager in tracking corrective actions.
- Monitor internal and external audit findings and follow up to ensure timely closure.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring
- Prepare and support the analysis of monthly QHSE dashboards and KPIs.
- Track station safety performance indicators and assist in identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
- Issue safety alerts and ensure Read & Sign acknowledgement when required.
Operational Coordination
- Support coordination between station operations and the QHSE department.
- Follow up on customer feedback, complaints, and QHSE-related observations.
- Monitor the condition of GSE and report safety-related issues to the QS Manager.
- Assist in implementing QHSE initiatives and improvement actions at the station level.
Your Profile
Minimum Education
- Bac+2 or higher in Health & Safety, Quality Management, Environmental Management, or related field.
Minimum Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in QHSE or aviation safety, preferably within ground handling or airport operations.
- Prior experience in safety investigations, audits, and ISO management systems is required.
Position-Specific Skills
- Strong knowledge of QHSE management systems and aviation safety practices
- Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Ability to analyze safety data and performance trends
- Capability to lead QHSE initiatives and improvement projects
Communication Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to deliver briefings, training, and reports effectively.
Language Skills
English / French/Arabic

- National travel when required.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with QHSE reporting tools and safety management systems
