Role Introduction
Reports to: Cargo Service Manager
Indirectly reports to: Regional Cargo Service Manager – SAMEA
Deliver reliable, customer-centric cargo operations that keep Cathay Cargo moving safely and on time at the port. This role sits at the heart of day-to-day air cargo execution, combining hands-on operational oversight with precise documentation, stakeholder coordination, and service recovery when conditions change.
Working closely with ground handling agents, suppliers, customers, and internal teams, the role ensures bookings, flight documentation, cargo movements, and special shipments are handled accurately and in full compliance with regulatory and internal standards. From real-time shipment updates and ULD control to supporting freighter operations and ramp activities where applicable, the work is practical, detail-driven, and highly visible.
Through disciplined execution, clear communication, and a strong safety mindset, this role helps protect on-time performance, customer trust, and Cathay Cargo’s reputation for operational excellence — moving cargo that matters to the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute cargo reservations and bookings accurately to support effective shipment planning and customer commitments.
- Provide timely operational notifications and real-time shipment updates to customers, ground handling agents, and relevant stakeholders.
- Guide and monitor Ground Handling Agent performance, issuing clear instructions to uphold service and safety standards.
- Maintain Unit Load Device (ULD) inventory compliance and coordinate with regional teams on asset control.
- Prepare, verify, and submit pre- and post-flight documentation to meet customs, regulatory, and operational requirements.
- Coordinate closely with engineering, airport operations, air traffic control, suppliers, sales teams, and cargo offices to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Support station administration, including SAP-based invoice processing, flight order updates, and documentation workflows.
- Manage cargo-related operational disruptions, including flight diversions and last-minute operational changes.
- Where designated, perform Ramp Coordinator duties for freighter operations, overseeing ramp, warehouse, and special cargo handling activities.
- Ensure full compliance with safety, security, quality, and Dangerous Goods requirements, supporting audits, training, and emergency response as required.
Requirements
- University degree or tertiary equivalent in a related discipline.
- Additional certification or diploma in logistics, supply chain management, or aviation operations is preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in cargo services, preferably with exposure to freighter aircraft handling.
- Mandatory possession of Cathay Cargo Freighter Ramp Coordinator (RCO) Licence and Super Heavy Equipment (SHE) Licence for freighter-operating ports, where applicable.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation with a proactive, solution-focused approach.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in operational execution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Candidates must have the legal right to live and work in India.
