About the Job
The Vice President Commercial, Cargo – Shanghai PVG is responsible for leading Swissport’s commercial strategy and customer engagement across its cargo operations in Shanghai. This role focuses on strengthening client relationships, driving revenue growth, and expanding Swissport’s market presence in collaboration with a local operational partner. The VP Commercial will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure commercial excellence, sustainable growth, and alignment with Swissport’s global standards and regional ambitions.
Main Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Market Development
- Develop and execute a commercial strategy tailored to the Shanghai cargo market, aligned with Swissport’s global objectives.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including airline partnerships, logistics collaborations, and value-added services.
- Support the GM in strategic planning and investment decisions to grow Swissport’s footprint in Shanghai and surrounding regions.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with airline customers, freight forwarders, and airport authorities.
- Lead contract negotiations, renewals, and pricing strategies to ensure long-term profitability and customer satisfaction.
- Act as the primary commercial liaison between Swissport and its operational partner, ensuring consistent service delivery and customer alignment.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Define and track commercial KPIs, reporting performance to the General Manager and regional commercial leadership.
- Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including customer reviews and market analysis.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives based on customer feedback and performance data.
Partner Collaboration
- Work closely with the local operational partner to ensure commercial strategies are effectively implemented and aligned.
- Collaborate on joint customer initiatives, service enhancements, and market positioning efforts.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build and lead a high-performing commercial team focused on customer success, innovation, and agility.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and commercial excellence.
Qualifications and Competencies
- 5+ years of commercial leadership experience in air cargo, aviation services, or logistics.
- Strong understanding of the Shanghai market and broader Chinese cargo landscape.
- Proven track record in customer engagement, contract negotiation, and revenue growth.
- Experience working with operational partners or outsourced service providers.
- Familiarity with Swissport systems, tools, and commercial frameworks is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full professional proficiency in English; Mandarin language skills are highly beneficial.
- Relevant qualifications in business, logistics, or aviation management.
