Position Summary: The CAD Drafter/Designer will develop, modify, and release engineering models, assemblies, and drawings for umbilical systems, ground testing equipment, launch pad structures, and transportation/handling tooling. This role requires proficiency in Creo and adherence to Blue Origin modeling conventions and configuration management (CN) requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Umbilical Systems
Develop and release CN-controlled designs, models, and drawings for umbilical assemblies, retraction/release mechanisms, and routing hardware.
Define and document umbilical interfaces with vehicle, payload, and ground support equipment, including connector pinouts and fluid line schematics.
MSFC Creo Support
Develop, modify, and maintain Creo models, assemblies, and drawings in compliance with Blue Origin modeling conventions and configuration management requirements.
Perform model checks, design reviews, and CN release activities to ensure conformance with applicable Blue Origin engineering standards.
Ground Testing Equipment
Develop and release CN-controlled designs, models, and drawings for test fixtures, stands, and supporting instrumentation hardware.
Define test equipment interfaces with units under test, including mechanical, fluid, and electrical connections.
Umbilical Mate Simulator
Develop and release CN-controlled designs, models, and drawings for launch pad structures, mechanical systems, and integrated infrastructure.
Define and document interfaces between launch pad systems, vehicle, and supporting ground equipment.
Transportation & Handling Tooling
Develop and release CN-controlled designs, models, and drawings for lifting fixtures, transport frames, handling rings, and associated tooling.
Define tooling interfaces and operational requirements, including rigging points, load paths, and handling procedures.
General Responsibilities:
Generate detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) standards.
Maintain product data and configuration management through CN-controlled release processes.
Collaborate with stress analysts and design engineers to incorporate analysis-driven design chang
Skills:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Proficiency in Creo (Pro/ENGINEER) for modeling, assemblies, and drawing creation.
Strong working knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 drafting standards.
Experience with configuration management and engineering change/release processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with NASA MSFC modeling conventions and standards.
Familiarity with fluid line schematics, electrical connector pinouts, and interface documentation.
Experience designing ground support equipment, tooling, or launch pad structures.
Experience with data exchange and model translation between organizations.
