The Occupational Health and Safety Technician role is responsible for implementing, monitoring and maintaining all aspects of Delta’s occupational health and safety policies for employees based in Brazil. This role ensures compliance with local regulations and company global standards, promotes a safe work environment and supports the organization in preventing workplace risks and incidents. Additionally, the technician role is a frontline position based in São Paulo International Airport (GRU).
Responsibilities for the Occupational Health and Safety Technician include, but are not limited to:
- Develop, implement and continuously improve the company’s Occupational Health and Safety policies for all employees in Brazil, including auditing, monitoring and evaluating workplace conditions related to occupational risks, accident prevention, quality of life and environmental factors.
- Ensure full compliance with Brazilian labor laws and regulatory requirements (NRs), coordinating mandatory programs such as PGR (Risk Management Program) and PCMSO (Occupational Health Medical Control Program), in partnership with occupational health providers and within required deadlines.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments and safety audits to identify hazards and recommend preventive and corrective actions.
- Deliver and coordinate safety training programs, ensuring that all employees, new hires, contractors, and visitors receive appropriate safety guidance and comply with established standards.
- Recommend improvements to equipment, facilities, and operational processes across all departments in Brazil to enhance safety conditions and mitigate risks.
- Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, analyze root causes, maintain proper records, and develop preventive measures, including tracking and reporting safety metrics and statistics.
- Support and participate in internal and external audits or inspections, ensuring accurate and timely provision of information and proposing corrective actions when needed.
- Manage administrative activities related to occupational safety, including preparing procedures and training materials, maintaining records, and coordinating medical examinations (pre-employment, periodic, role-change, and termination) with occupational health providers.
- Participate in safety meetings and prepare reports as requested by leadership, providing insights and recommendations to strengthen the organization’s safety culture.
- Act as the primary point of contact for occupational health and safety matters in Brazil, promoting awareness and engagement across the organization.
What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
- Certification in Workplace Safety (Certificação em segurança do trabalho).
- Experience in occupational health and safety, preferably within corporate or airport environments.
- Strong knowledge of Brazilian safety regulations (NRs).
- Must embrace continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the internal and external organizations, incl. partner, vendors and airport communities.
- Should be a demonstrated self-starter, who is action-oriented, and proven as capable to manage a complex day-to-day operation.
- Must step up to conflicts and be skilled at finding common ground in order to obtain cooperation from others.
- Must be willing to travel, if needed.
- Fluency in Portuguese and business level of English are required.
- Authorization to work in Brazil.

- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
