Role Introduction
Reports to: Group Safety Manager - Data Management
Drive the way safety intelligence is understood and applied across Cathay. This role brings together safety, security, quality, and business resilience data, transforming it into structured insights that support governance, operational decision-making, and continuous improvement.
Working across multiple data sources and stakeholder groups, you will manage the end-to-end lifecycle of safety-related data — from collection and validation to analysis, visualisation, and reporting. You will contribute to the development of analytical tools and data platforms, using technologies such as SQL, Python, R, Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, Power Query, Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio, and Qlik Sense to enhance how information is accessed and used. The work combines technical depth with cross-functional collaboration, ensuring data is accurate, interoperable, and meaningful.
You will also play a key role in strengthening safety programmes and governance through reporting, audits, and improvement initiatives, while stepping in for leadership when required. The impact is tangible: clearer insights, stronger safety outcomes, and a more resilient operation — helping move people forward in life through safer journeys.
Key Responsibilities
- Production of the regular data packages, analysis reports and management review reports to support operational safety, security, quality governance and business resilience
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to develop the process of safety, security, quality and business resilience data collection and to support data analysis, collaboration and exchange
- Maximise the interoperability of safety, security, quality and business resilience from different data sources
- Ensure the data quality and integrity in the group safety, security, quality and business resilience database
- Support the continuous development / improvement of safety, security, quality and business resilience programmes
- Co-development of analytical tools to support the analysis, visualisation and the management of the operational safety, security, quality and business resilience data
- Maintain, update and develop the group safety, security, quality and business resilience database
- Participate in safety, security and quality audits, vulnerability assessments and surveys as required
- Conduct ad-hoc projects as directed by Group Safety Manager - Data Management (GSM-DM) / Group Safety Manager - Analytics (GSM-A)
- Deputise for GSM-DM as required for periods of extended absence

Skills
- Demonstrated experience in data handling and processing
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent data analysis skills
- Good command of both spoken and written English
- Project management, people management, change management and communication skills
- Computer literacy (e.g. SQL, Python, R, Microsoft Power Platform, PowerBI, PowerQuery, SageMaker Unified Studio, Qliksense & other data analytics tools preferred)
- Proven database maintenance and analysis experience
Knowledge
- Tertiary education or equivalent
- Knowledge in aviation safety management principles and international practices
Experience
- Minimum 5 years relevant work experience in airline or related industry
