Job Description:
The Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment of L3Harris is seeking a Specialist, Quality Engineer to work at either our existing state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) in Toney, AL, and/or our new AMF site located in Huntsville, AL in support of Program Quality Engineering functions. In this role, you'll serve as a liaison between the manufacturing site, program office, and customer. Working under general supervision, you'll develop plans to meet requirements and operational goals with a significant impact on department results, using expertise in quality processes and project management. You'll effectively develop robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders, explaining operational processes and taking initiative as the functional leader for assigned programs/products, ensuring open communication and resolution of quality-related matters.
Essential Functions:
Leverages engineering expertise to facilitate communication and coordination among Integrated Product Team (IPT) members, suppliers, program office, and customers. Ensures that contractual requirements, hardware specifications, and key quality metrics are met, or ensures corrective actions are implemented and verified effective.
Apply modern quality principles and methods, including Lean and Six Sigma, to aerospace manufacturing operations.
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements to ensure compliance and flowdown of applicable requirements.
Lead or interface with the Material Review Board (MRB) for nonconforming material disposition, driving timely completion of actions.
Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes for high product and service standards, regularly assessing the health those functional processes.
Investigate production issues, conduct root cause analysis, take corrective actions, and verify effectiveness through effective application of a Corrective Action Board (CAB) process.
Analyze manufacturing quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Lead data-driven continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing process efficiency.
Interface with Supplier Quality Engineering to resolve supplier-related issues.
Work with Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to identify and mitigate program risks through the program’s Risk and Opportunity Management Board process.
Present quality metrics to customers, providing assessment and actions to drive improvement.
Assess the need for First Article Inspections (FAIs) based on trigger events defined in AS9102 and/or contractual flowdown, and facilitate their completion
Qualifications:
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience collaborating within a Microsoft 365 environment, with proficiency in the included applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
Project Management experience.
Supplier/Customer Support expereince.
Regulatory & Auditing (AS9100) in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
Statistical Analysis experience.
Risk Management experience.
