The Tactical, Communications, and Maintenance Applications (TCMA) team based in Huntsville, Alabama has new opportunities for individuals who want to grow their technical expertise on complex programs and be a part of an innovative and fast-paced avionics business area. Teams are composed of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of software-only products. Our team focuses on creating avionics solutions for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including the integration of various radios and surveillance equipment for domestic and international military customers.
Role Overview
We are looking for an Intern, disciplined in Engineering to join our TCMA team in Huntsville, Alabama. The successful candidate will be responsible for systems engineering tasks such as writing requirements and/or tests and then running those tests against recently updated software in an Agile software engineering environment.
What YOU will do:
- Provide analysis's for the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and develops verification criteria and plans for the requirements
- Perform analysis's, architecture and design at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
- Perform functional analysis's, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
- Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total system solutions.

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with the systems development process, including requirements capture, design, decomposition, integration, and verification/validation, and transition to production.
- Experience with communicating between program stakeholders.
- Experience with tools such as DOORS, MATLAB, C++, and Python.
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
