What Will You Be Doing?
The Engineer II, Facilities Management independently manages facility development and improvement projects across Frontier's growing network, delivering cost-effective, well-planned, and functional space on schedule and on budget. The role is Frontier's on-site project owner and representative: it directs vendors, contractors, and consultants from scope development through closeout, and travels up to 80% of the time to airports, stations, and project sites across the system. The Engineer II partners with internal stakeholders, outside consultants, airport and governmental officials, and other airline representatives on space planning and facility improvements, and performs minor repairs across HVAC, plumbing, fire/life safety, construction, IT, and other essential building systems as needed.
Essential Functions
- Independently manage multiple concurrent buildout and tenant-improvement projects from scope development through closeout, with accountability for budget, schedule, and quality.
- Prepare budgets and RFPs; manage schematic design; source and evaluate bids; and award work to contractors and suppliers.
- Own vendor and contract management for assigned projects: qualify and select vendors, negotiate scope and pricing, administer contracts and change orders, verify invoices against contract terms, and hold vendors and contractors accountable to schedule, budget, and quality standards.
- Travel up to 80% of the time to airports, stations, and project sites across the network to represent Frontier on-site, direct contractor activity, conduct inspections and punch walks, and resolve field issues in real time.
- Coordinate with and manage real estate professionals, architects, engineers, program managers, construction managers, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Read and interpret blueprints; review architectural standards and building conditions; and estimate building component costs.
- Review projects for compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Maintain project management discipline across the assigned portfolio — schedules, budgets, risk and issue logs, and regular status reporting to leadership and stakeholders.
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance to Engineer-level and contract resources assigned to shared projects; no formal supervisory responsibility.
- Perform periodic, essential repairs at headquarters and facilities across the network.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of facilities engineering, construction, or capital project management experience, including direct responsibility for project budgets and schedules.
- Demonstrated vendor and contract management experience — sourcing, bidding, awarding, and administering contracts with general contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time, including overnight, multi-week, and short-notice assignments.
- Proven experience managing commercial building systems.
- Hands-on maintenance capability across HVAC, electrical, fire/life safety, and plumbing preferred.
- Airline, airport, or other regulated-environment project experience preferred; PMP, CAPM, or equivalent project management credential preferred.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Ability to communicate, collaborate, and work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Proficiency operating and troubleshooting standard office equipment and software.
- General knowledge of ordering/purchasing general office equipment and supplies
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply blueprints and design and construction documents.
- Knowledge and understanding of the construction process, building codes and standards
- Ability to prioritize and organize work, anticipate change, and perform reliably under pressure.
- Ability to travel on company-supported initiatives up to 80% of the time, including overnight and multi-week assignments
- Skill in negotiation, analysis, and problem-solving sufficient to resolve scope, cost, and schedule disputes with vendors and contractors independently
- Ability to manage several concurrent projects with competing deadlines and to make independent decisions within approved scope and budget authority

Positions Supervised
