Role Purpose
The Operations Manager Passenger Services – Western Sydney International & Sydney Airport is responsible for providing leadership across Passenger Services operations at both Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) and Sydney International Airport (SYD).
This hybrid leadership role combines the accountability of establishing and managing Menzies Aviation's Passenger Services operation at WSI with operational management responsibilities for a designated airline portfolio at SYD. The role will ensure the delivery of safe, secure and customer-focused operations while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, supporting commercial outcomes and driving high performing teams across both locations.
As Menzies Aviation expands its presence at Western Sydney International Airport, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the successful establishment and future growth of the station while gaining exposure to multi-site operational leadership.
What You Will Be Doing
- Provide leadership and direction for Passenger Services operations across Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) and the designated airline portfolio at Sydney International Airport (SYD), ensuring safe, secure and customer-focused service delivery.
- Lead the establishment, implementation and ongoing development of Passenger Services operations at WSI, ensuring operational readiness and compliance with customer and company standards.
- Manage the day-to-day operational performance of both locations, ensuring service delivery, safety, security, customer satisfaction and operational excellence are consistently achieved.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with airline customers, airport authorities, government agencies and other key stakeholders.
- Monitor and manage Ground Handling Agreements, Service Level Agreements and customer performance outcomes to ensure contractual obligations are achieved.
- Lead, coach and develop frontline leaders and employees, fostering a high-performing, engaged and customer-focused culture.
- Manage employee performance, attendance, conduct, development and employee relations matters in accordance with company policy and applicable industrial instruments.
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, training and succession planning to ensure operational capability across both stations.
- Monitor operational performance, identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement initiatives to improve safety, service delivery, productivity and financial performance.
- Manage operational resources and expenditure within approved budget parameters while maintaining service quality and commercial performance.
- Ensure employee rosters, training records and operational documentation are accurately maintained and compliant.
- Promote a positive safety culture by ensuring timely completion of hazard reporting, investigations, audits and corrective actions.
- Support business growth initiatives, customer transitions and future expansion activities associated with Western Sydney International Airport.

What We Are Looking For
- Demonstrated management experience (minimum 5 years) within aviation, airport operations or ground handling.
- Proven experience leading Passenger Services operations with strong knowledge of airline customer service delivery.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, develop and manage high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage operational performance across complex or multi-site environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills with airline customers, airport authorities and internal departments.
- Experience managing employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary processes, coaching and workforce development.
- Sound understanding of Enterprise Agreements, industrial relations principles and employment legislation.
- Ability to interpret and apply company policies, operational procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience managing resources, operational costs and service delivery outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly developed organisational, planning and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional customer service focus, analytical problem-solving ability and a positive, results-driven work ethic.
- Current unrestricted NSW Driver Licence with the ability to travel between operational sites, including Western Sydney International Airport and Sydney International Airport.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an ASIC and Airside Driver Authority.
