Position Summary
The Base Representative serves as the local operational presence and primary support resource for flight crews at their assigned base. The role supports safe, reliable, and efficient operations while fostering a positive crew experience.
The Base Representative connects crews with OCC, Flight Operations leadership, Crew Scheduling, Stations, Maintenance, vendors, and other operational partners. This highly visible, hands-on role requires strong operational awareness, sound judgment, effective communication, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
Responsibilities
Base Operations & Performance
- Maintain daily awareness of the base operation, including flight activity, crew movements, delays, disruptions, and other factors affecting performance.
- Partner with OCC, Dispatch, Crew Scheduling, Stations, Maintenance, and other teams to address operational challenges and support timely resolution.
- Monitor base performance, including OTP and delay activity, identify recurring trends and root causes, and support corrective actions.
- Proactively identify potential operational issues, follow them through resolution, and escalate significant or recurring concerns to leadership.
Crew Support & Engagement
- Serve as a visible, accessible, and trusted resource for pilots and flight attendants.
- Assist crews with operational concerns and connect them with the appropriate resources or departments.
- Engage regularly with crews to identify concerns, trends, and opportunities to improve the crew experience.
- Support new crew members transitioning into the base and help ensure crew facilities are professional, functional, and welcoming.
- Promote professionalism, collaboration, accountability, and strong communication between crews and leadership.
Vendor & Local Partner Coordination
- Develop effective relationships with local vendors and operational partners.
- Monitor vendor performance and address issues affecting crews, customers, OTP, or the operation.
- Coordinate with internal teams to resolve recurring vendor or service issues and participate in vendor reviews or corrective action discussions as needed.
- Escalating significant or recurring vendor concerns to leadership.
Communication & Leadership Support
- Serve as a local extension of Operations leadership and help communicate important operational information to base personnel.
- Provide leadership with feedback on base performance, crew concerns, vendor performance, facility issues, and emerging operational trends.
- Support base meetings, crew engagement initiatives, special projects, and irregular operations as needed.
- Foster strong cross-functional relationships and collaborative problem-solving.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous airline, aviation, airport, or operational experience.
- Strong understanding of airline operations and the relationship between crews, aircraft, stations, vendors, and operational control functions.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Ability to identify trends, follow issues through resolution, and appropriately escalate concerns.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, and standard business applications.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, and irregular hours.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Business, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Previous Part 121 airline experience.
- Experience in Flight Operations, Inflight, Crew Scheduling, Dispatch, OCC, Stations, or another airline operational function.
- Experience working with airline vendors or ground service providers.
- Familiarity with OTP, delay tracking, and other airline operational performance metrics.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, training, or employee-support experience.
