Role Introduction
Reports to: General Manager Aircrew
This role is part of a professional team in our Flight Operations Department (FOP), which consists of flight crew and ground staff teams, both working to ensure the highest standards of operational efficiency and service. Safety is intrinsic to everything we do.
This role is accountable for
establishing and leading the Flight Operations performance, insights and digital capability transformation, enabling the delivery of the
FOP 2030 Vision and Strategy.
You are responsible for operating with delegated authority from the Director Flight Operations to set, track, and report
enterprise-level performance frameworks, govern the FOP transformation portfolio, and challenge delivery where outcomes are at risk.
You will act as
Flight Ops’ interface with Digital, IT and Finance, the position will drive the creation of a
single, integrated source of accurate information for Flight Operations, combining operational, safety, training and people data to drive
measurable improvements in:
- Safety and operational resilience
- Planning quality and delivery precision
- Efficiency, productivity and crew lifestyle
- Training effectiveness, engagement and retention
You will operate within a
just business culture and regulatory framework, the role ensures data and digital tools are used to
support learning, informed decision‑making and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Flight Operations Performance & Insights
- Establish and continuously improve the FOP performance management framework by defining appropriate KPIs, setting targets, maintaining dashboards and reporting across safety, operations, planning, training and people outcomes
- Provide actionable insights for Flight Operations leadership by prioritising strategic initiatives, conducting forward-looking and ad hoc analyses, and leading root cause and risk/mitigation workstreams when performance deviates from defined pathways
- Manage and report on FOP financial performance by consolidating section budgets, coordinating regular and ad hoc forecasts with Finance and other stakeholders, monitoring variances, and recommending corrective actions to protect fiscal delivery and outcomes
- Shape, prioritise and govern projects related to the FOP transformation portfolio by partnering with GMs on business initiatives, supporting delivery and governance, tracking benefits and outcomes (e.g., IBR/ABR reporting), and escalating risks and dependencies
FOP Integrated Performance Hub
- Lead the design, development and evolution of the FOP Integrated Performance Hub as the “central source of truth” for Flight Operations
- Integrate data across operational systems, training platforms, safety reporting and people tools.
- Ensure data governance, including ethical use and regulatory compliance, are embedded by design
Digital & Advanced Analytics Enablement
- Leverage digital technologies, analytics and AI (where appropriate) to support predictive insight, risk identification and targeted intervention, within regulatory boundaries and the principles of our just culture
- Enhance and connect existing platforms, while guiding development of new digital capabilities aligned to the FOP roadmap
Transformation Roadmap & Delivery
- Develop and maintain a prioritized, sequenced transformation roadmap aligned with FOP 2030 milestones
- Quantify benefits and business cases across safety, efficiency, training and sustainable workforce deployment
- Lead delivery through teams of SMEs, working closely with DGT and IT
Change, Culture & Capability
- Lead change management to ensure adoption of new tools, insights and ways of working across pilots and ground teams and FOP leadership
- Promote digital literacy and data informed decision making within Flight Operations leadership
- Reinforce a just culture, ensuring insights are used to support learning, development and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Proven experience leading digital, analytics or transformation initiatives in complex or safety critical operational environments
- Strong understanding of Flight Operations, aviation safety and training systems, or experience in equivalent, high reliability industries
- Demonstrated experience designing analytics platforms, dashboards and performance hubs.
- Track record of successful change management amongst diverse stakeholder groups
- Strong project management capability and skilled in effective scope, time and risk management
