What you can expect from this position:
Reporting to the Director, Customer Experience and Development, this role serves in a leadership position and oversees the airport’s planning, development, and activation of activity related to the 2026 FIFA World Cup event. Working closely with the City of Toronto, Canada Soccer, and FIFA, the position manages phases of events, including initiation, planning, execution, and commercial negotiations.
Supporting one of the world’s largest sporting events, this role ensures the airport is integrated into the planning and delivery of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and supports the host city in creating a warm welcome, and positive send off for all Games personnel. Leading up to and during the Tournament, the role will transition into day-to-day oversight of aspects of Tournament Operations, including any and all aspects related to the resolution of issues.
As Manager, Games Integration (FIFA 2026 World Cup), you will:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with City of Toronto, Canada Soccer, FIFA, and internal/external partners while advocating for the GTAA's commercial and operational interests
- Act as the voice for FIFA 2026 preparation within the airport
- Participate in FIFA meetings related to airport design, development, and operationalization
- Develop the games strategy and ensure alignment of internal / external stakeholders
- Explore planning requirements and commercial priorities associated with games protocols
- Develop a LIFT mitigation strategy to minimize construction impact on Games processes
- Lead the FIFA 2026 World Cup Airport Working Group and Steering Committee
- Support the development of the Airport Plan of Operations and an engagement strategy with Stakeholder Relations and Communications / Passenger Experience teams
- Develop strategies to support the City of Toronto and FIFA while guiding the development and delivery of programs, services, and initiatives to support the Games family
- Develop and manage new products, services, or alternative processes to facilitate passenger movement
- Plan, prepare, and coordinate event logistics and documentation
- Guide internal airport teams in identifying and resolving risks while planning, directing, and executing operational readiness trials
- Administer the Airport Agreement between GTAA, City of Toronto, and Canada Soccer
- Manage budgets and costs associated with Games preparation and delivery
- Drive strategic clarity and empower team members. Foster a positive, healthy, and safe work environment whole providing coaching, guidance, and feedback to team members
The salary for this management non-unionized position is competitive based on the successful candidate’s qualifications.
This is the role for you, if you have:
- Post-Secondary degree in Business, Logistics, Aviation, Transportation Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Five (5) years’ experience in airport operations, event management, large scale sporting events, transportation activities or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in serving a large and complex customer base
- Leadership with people management experience, preferable in a matrix organization and multiple operations experience
- Valid Ontario G Driver's License and Passport
- Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance
