Position Summary
The Engineer 2, Manufacturing provides a range of expertise in supporting and improving the manufacturing capabilities to produce products. The Engineer will contribute to improving a range of fabrication processes that can directly impact the sustaining and growth efforts of operations. This position will be focused on design and deployment of digital motion systems-this includes, but is not limited to: robot programming, working with outside vendors for turnkey systems, and deployment/maintenance of data collection and monitoring equipment. The Engineer will participate in both the introduction of new products and technology as well as amelioration of existing processes.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, programming, assembly, tooling, and materials
- Develops manufacturing processes and designs by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and implementing manufacturing methods and equipment.
- Optimization of process and consulting with process engineers on a “design for manufacturability” approach
- Understands and minimize both technical process variability and human process variability
- Participates in Design and NC Programming and maintaining revision control for processes and designs
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
- Coordinates with outside vendors on development and design of turn-key automated systems.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Years Experience: 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing environment
Skills:
·Excellent ability to apply a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving
·Experience with 3D Solid Modeling and Simulation Software (Fibersim a plus)
·NC/Robot Programming experience preferred
·Advanced knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement
·Ability to explain a range of complex technical information
·Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
·Adaptable to changing requirements and situations
·Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management tools
