As we continue to unlock the full potential of our people and our airline, we are looking for a Head of Planning (Planning Lead) to lead our demand and supply planning teams, developing the people and expertise in a new supply chain planning function.
This is a transformational role, as a member of the Supply Chain leadership team, you will support the General Manager (GM) of Supply Chain in creating long-term strategies for the business that drive Full Potential and Kia Mau (Air NZ Strategy) initiatives.

You’ll ensure your functional areas operate with integrity, increase capabilities, and maintain best practices.
We are looking for an exemplary leader that has a passion on engaging with their direct team and others, has experience in shaping culture, and has a continuous improvement mindset. You’ll work closely with the GM of Supply Chain and other leaders to set strategic priorities, allocate resources, and engage in cross-functional planning to achieve the functions goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic design and execution of long-term Supply Chain Planning strategy (Demand & Supply) to align with business goals.
- Lead transformational change across planning functions by implementing advanced digital planning tools and processes to enhance efficiency and performance
- Build team capabilities through developing, mentoring, and coaching, setting clear expectations, and fostering a culture of collaboration, curiosity, inclusion, and accountability
- Build and drive strategic resilience initiatives to enhance supply chain adaptability, risk mitigation, and operational continuity.
- Lead Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process design and integration across teams to align demand, supply, and financial goals across teams.
- Partner with Procurement to strengthen Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), fostering supplier partnerships that support long-term goals.
- Ensure regulatory requirements are met in line with the Senior Person’s accountability and direction
About you:
- Minimum 10+ years in progressively senior roles within supply chain planning (Demand & Supply) or related functions, in a complex environment
- 5-7+ years in a leadership role managing cross-functional teams and driving strategic initiatives within complex environments
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development and execution of comprehensive supply chain strategies as part of a senior leadership team
- Experience in leading transformational change initiatives that improve supply chain planning processes, including the adoption of new technologies and methodologies, resulting in increased operational efficiency
- In-depth understanding of supply chain best practices, and regulatory requirements relevant to the industry or highly regulated environments
Education
- Tertiary qualification or equivalent in business-related discipline
