Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Financial Services will perform a key strategic role in the leadership of the finance organisation, ensuring delivery of best in class processes, systems and service delivery. Please note that this role is a Fixed Term Position.
The position is accountable for all aspects of the following:
Revenue Operations;
Finance Systems & Operations;
Accounts Receivable & Payable;
Treasury & Insurance.
The Director of Financial Services will interface with:
CEO/CFO as key point of knowledge on operational performance & insights on trends impacting Aer Lingus’ financial position (e.g. fuel hedging position).
IAG Finance management team both in the context of GBS as service provider (Tax, Treasury, Accounts Payable) & stakeholder (Finance Systems).
Third party service providers & vendors (management of SLA agreements with BPO suppliers & system vendors).
Executive team & senior managers with operational reporting & support, in particular CCO area.
Wider Aer Lingus finance team.
Other airlines in relation to IATA/ interline settlement agreements.
Oversee all aspects of the revenue operations securing accurate and timely recording and collection of revenues (€2 billion per year), optimising cash flow and preventing bad debt.
Lead continuous improvement in the Finance Operations area.
Responsibility for compliance with legal and policy requirements in the Treasury and Insurance areas while concurrently assessing and proposing solutions for associated business risks.
Collaborate with other Finance Directors to maintain robust policies and processes which safeguard the assets of Aer Lingus.
Liaise with other Executives and Directors on all Finance related matters.
Optimise third-party vendor agreements to ensure they are cost-effective, fit for purpose and in line with the wider Finance operational strategy.
University degree or relevant work experience.
Professional qualification such as RA, ACA, CPA.
Ability to deliver to tight time scales while balancing competing priorities.
Communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
Management experience leading medium to large teams.
Analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
Innovation: bringing a solutions-driven approach, embracing change and ongoing process improvement.
Delegation: deploying organisational resources effectively, “letting go” and allowing others to cope and learn directly.
Cooperation: strong focus on collaboration across as well as within functions.
Ability to lead large improvement initiatives and projects (issue identification, structuring, organisation, follow up etc.).
Keen analytical ability allowing meaningful review of facts and numbers and ability to couple this to solutions and actions.
Demonstrates commercial acumen, strategic awareness, and balancing short versus long term business objectives.
Ability to lead team of Finance professionals and guide, coach, and support to achieve organisational objectives.
Experience in working with professional advisory firms, auditing firms and banks.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Eligible to live and work in the EU.
Current unrestricted worldwide passport.
Provide 3 verifiable references.
Able to pass a 5-year enhanced security background check.
