As an airline, safety is our most important principle. And our Corporate Safety team is responsible for making sure safety is top of mind in every action we take. From conducting flight safety investigations and educating pilots on potential safety threats to implementing medical programs and helping prevent employee injuries, our team is instrumental in running a safe and successful airline for our customers and employees.
Key Responsibilities
The Manager, Investigations & Accident Technical Response (ATR), is responsible for accomplishing Significant Injury/Damage Investigations (SIDIs), leading the evolution of safety promotional products, and ensuring technical response preparedness at United Airlines. This role will direct a team of Senior Analysts, Safety Investigations who support functions of the Flight Safety Investigation (FSI) Team. Some travel (25-30%) is required for this role.
- Supervises the execution of the SIDI process for events where aircraft damage or injuries are sustained and there is no intention for flight
- Elevates safety promotion from data obtained via the FSI Team through leadership of two Senior Analysts, Safety Investigations
- Ensures the continued technical response preparedness of United Airlines in the event of an aircraft accident/incident via the management of equipment, codifying of standards, and execution of drills for the Aircraft Recovery, Investigation, and Scene Teams at United Airlines
- Assists with the development, administration, and execution of policies and procedures for the daily support of the Senior Manager, FSI & ATR
The salary for this position is $104,000 to $140,800, dependent on job-related, non discriminatory factors such as experience, education and skills. This range is based on a full-time schedule.

Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree (Aviation Safety, Airport Operations, and/or OSHA) or related experience
- 3+ years of experience in Aviation Safety, Airport Operations, and/or airline management experience
- Strong expertise in/experience with Airport Operations and/or OSHA-related investigative standard processes
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Office, SQL/Python, database query, data visualization/brand building/refining, or quantitative/statistical analytics
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics and/or Emergency Response-related study or experience
- 1-2 years of experience in Computer Science or Data Analytics and/or experience with crafting data visualizations to support aviation-related efforts
- Project management expertise
- Experience with coding within Microsoft Office and/or SQL/Python platforms, database query experience, data visualization/brand building/refining expertise, quantitative/statistical analytics experience

The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
