Working Pattern: Full-time 2 Shift Pattern (Morning / Afternoon)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Aeropsace Machinist to join the Components and Modules team in the Experimental Operations business that is part of Civil ET&S based in Derby.We are at the cutting edge of civil aviation, developing the next generation of sustainable travel, whether that be through insertion of enhancements to our current engine offerings, revolutionary technology demonstrator programmes such as the UltraFan Project or exploring how we can utilise emerging technologies such as Electrification and Hydrogen in the civil aerospace market.

What you will be doing
As an Advanced Aerospace Machinist, you will be part of a highly skilled team modifying and manufacturing components, fixtures, tooling required to support experimental operations within Rolls-Royce. There will be a strong emphasis on utilising new technologies as well as maintaining our current capabilities; processes include, but are not limited to, manual machining (milling, turning, boring), CNC milling, CNC turning, wire EDM, EDM, laser cutting, and grinding. Applying appropriate Health and Safety practice and maintaining a safe environment at all times is vital and working as part of an integrated flexible team to achieving targets is critical to our success.
• Interpret and work to manufacturing drawings, technical instructions, and written specifications to deliver a consistent, high-quality service across a variety of different components and product families;
• Operate, set, and program (where applicable) a wide variety of machines to execute machining operations to fine tolerances (e.g. ±0.02mm);
• Conduct inspection operations on machined components to establish if they meet the required standards, definitions, and specifications;
• Participate in the continual review of processes within the business in the interest of continuous improvement and identifying best practices;
• Have the ability to quality check own work and complete relevant documentation accurately;
• Work within a team to effectively resolve quality issues and ensure your work is being completed to deadlines.
Who we’re looking for:

• Has completed an advanced modern engineering apprenticeship* and an NVQ/SVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Has an awareness of HS&E requirements
• Is an individual that is able to work alone and as part of a team and will strive to achieve delivery commitments.
• Has a clear and demonstrated understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, dimensional and visual inspection requirements
• Has experience setting and operating a wide variety of CNC and manual machine tools as well as experience in CNC and CAD/CAM programming, specifically on Siemans 840D, ProtoTRAK, Mazatrol, or Fanuc controllers.
• Has strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with many different stakeholders from multiple levels of the business.
