Job Title:Measurement Lead

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced metrologist or measurement specialist to join the Defence UK and International manufacturing engineering team in the role of Measurement Lead.
As Measurement Lead for the Defence Manufacturing and Assembly facilities, you will be responsible for defining, commissioning, controlling and improving product verification processes used within the production facilities in the sector.
This will involve creating specifications for new equipment and identifying and implementing controls for process variables to ensure that the verification processes are capable and effective. You will be responsible for the deployment and governance of product verification and equipment calibration standards.
As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will be working with multidisciplinary teams to solve problems and identify and implement process improvements.

What you will be doing:
• Provide governance for the metrology and calibration processes within the facilities. Ensure measurement systems within the area are robust, capable and traceable in line with corporate, customer and legislative requirements.
• Define and champion the implementation of best practice for metrology and calibration processes based on an understanding of policies, practices and procedures.
• Contribute to relevant internal and external global communities of practice and collaborate with other specialists across the company to develop strategy, processes, methods and standards in the field of metrology and product verification.
• Lead the selection, justification, acquisition and commissioning of new product verification equipment. Drive continuous improvement and process control activities maintain and improve capability.

• Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent). Recognised national or international engineering accreditation (e.g. UK IEng or CEng) where available
• Demonstrable experience of implementing metrology and calibration processes and requirements in a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience in defining, acquiring and commissioning product verification processes.
• Demonstrable experience of leading complex problem solving and process improvement activities. You will possess excellent interpersonal skills.
