Job Description:

The Senior Fuel Trading and Supply Manager delivers on our Purpose by leading the scheduling, planning, and trading activities of Fuel Supply & Trading for the West Coast. Additionally, this position contributes to the development and execution of our Fuel Strategy and Management strategic vision and leads our annual fuel bid efforts. The Senior Fuel Trading and Supply Manager is a dynamic leader who provides thought Leadership and guidance for fuel value chain management to optimize total fuel costs and itsfinancial impact on the Company.

Responsibilities
Leads complex negotiations and trading activities with suppliers and brokers
Contracts, schedules and forecasts fuel supply for multiple locations throughout Southwest’s network as needed
Oversees the execution of monthly airport and pipeline nominations to any or all fuel supply points with the utilization of the Fuel Management System (FMS) and pipeline systems to maintain calculated minimum & maximum levels of fuel inventory and assists others with strategic and operational direction
Assists the Company's coordination and efforts with industry trade organizations on regulatory matters affecting U.S. jet fuel value chain
Drives the development of strategy and decision- making processes for their areas of responsibility and drives overall jet fuel strategy development
Works with and advises FS&M Leadership in facilitating the planning, development, quarterly progress tracking, and execution of the Strategic Plan
Analyze, develop, and present data for Team, Leadership, and other Stakeholders to support decision making and maintains analysis on financial impact of supply and trading activities
Leads self and encourages fellow Team Members to voice opinions, understand context, debate respectfully, foster Teamwork and contribute to the overall wellbeing of the Team
Shares knowledge, mentors/trains others, and influences Team to stay abreast of market trends and supply chain logistics
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Expert knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial commodities markets, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
Expert knowledge of principles and methods for moving commodities by pipeline, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits
Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
Highly skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Skilled in bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences
Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong in order to evaluate options and implement solutions
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Expert-level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
- Refined products or crude value chain management including logistics (pipeline, truck and marine movements), scheduling, and purchasing
- Analytics, supplier management, risk management, and/or commodity trading
- Preferred: Experience managing complex jet fuel and/or refined product value chains including supply and trading
- Preferred: Experience with ETRM systems that manage end-to-end transactions
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information
- Ability to work extended hours as needed including nights, weekends and holidays
- Air travel may be required
Pay & Benefits
Competitive market salary from$130,750 to $145,300 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
