Job Description:

The Manager Vacations Revenue Management supports our Purpose by leading and championing the work of the Vacations Revenue Management Team. The Team manages the booking engine operations that support Southwest Vacations and the new Getaways by Southwest™ space, which is part of our reimagined Customer Experience. This Manager is responsible for leading the Vacations Packages Pricing and Revenue Management Team, strategy, processes, and execution. This role will lead essential revenue optimization efforts, including competitive intelligence capabilities, price platform execution and progression road mapping, and hotel algorithm and selection processes for the hotel carousels and sort order. They’ll also work closely with Teams in Marketing, Analytics, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Air Revenue Management and Pricing. Responsibilities
- Work with external vendor(s) and other Southwest teams to execute competitive price benchmarking to leverage in decisions for pricing, hotel sort order, and hotel carousels.
- Lead the Vacations forecasting and revenue budget processes.
- Drives optimal revenue and profit strategy through leading the development, management, and execution of the hotel selection algo and process for determining which hotels to place in key merchandise locations and in what hotel sort order. Incorporates key inputs from the Strategic Partnerships team and others along with various analytics.
- Leads consistent Vacations Packages revenue planning and strategy meetings with other leaders and teams to collaboratively align on strategies, tactics, promotions, and other actions and establish the plans accordingly.
- Partner with Airline Revenue Management and Pricing Teams to understand market dynamics and air booking trends and take part in planning sessions.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Partnership Management Teams to manage promotions at both market and individual partner levels.
- Manage pricing strategy for assignment markets and leads and conducts ad-hoc analysis as needed.
- Develop and leverage analytical models to support pricing rules and decision-making, including promotions and discounts.
- Work with other teams such as Data Science, Analytics, and others to get deeper modeling of price elasticity, hotel sort order, hotel selection for carousels, and customer audiences/personalization for improved decisions.
- Develops decks and presentations as needed and caters the message and approach of presenting these based on the audience.
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and experience of pricing for a travel provider (e.g., airline, hotel, or OTA), ideally vacations package pricing.
- Abilities to be proactive and self-driven with a mentality of being an owner of the business.
- Strong people and team management and development skills
- Skilled in problem-solving and storytelling
- Skilled in analytical and quantitative analysis with experience building, teaching, and evaluating quantitative models.
- Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbally, including development and delivery of presentations to various audiences.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, balance competing priorities, and manage time effectively.
- Ability to delegate effectively and provide clear direction.
- Ability to properly manage highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to contend with a range and complexity of large business problems.
- Ability to align multiple parties, with conflicting/diverse viewpoints, on the direction for specific initiatives.
- Ability to project poise, confidence, and maturity in both internal and external situations
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
- Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
- Pricing of bundled products or services or pricing of air, hotel or other travel products
- Developing analytical models for informing pricing decisions
- Managing a team and processes
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space workstation/desk/office area] for extended periods of time.
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job.
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Pay & Benefits:
- Competitive market salary from $122,200 per year to $135,800 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
